Now I know online ones come and go, but so do offline ones. I keep in touch with good traders, because they either make or save me $$$.

As long as we aren't including romantic -- which make little sense to me as far as online goes -- then sure. I don't see any issue with valuing an online friendship. You're not doing much different than what you do with the friends you normally hang around with (I.e. meet up doing the things you like -- videogames being the obvious, chatting etc).

Yes, of course so. People are people, whether they're online or offline. I'm speaking of friends, not relationships. It's impossible to conduct an actual relationship online. And with VoIP it's almost like they're right there with you anyway.

no, and anyone who says they do must not have any offline friends.

i don't think you can fully have a true friendship with someone unless you meet them. so if it's just online and there has been no physical meeting then i don't value it as the same.

No because offline friendships are with actual people. Online people are just virtual characters made up of 1's and 0's, silly!

Yeah, and people don't actually exist in real life either. They're just a big blob of carbon, water, and blood cells, and emit light. That's about it.

Why is it that if I value online friends as much as I do offline ones that I must not have any offline friends? Is there some hidden requirement that I must trust the offline ones more since I'm able see their face? BTW I'm talking friendships not "relationships".

True...you can't get that emotional interaction through the internet

I see your point, however sometimes there is more emotional interactment via internet. It's easier for some poeople to let out feeling through a keybord, rather than a face to face over coffee.

Nice. How do you buy them now and resell them in 2004? I bet if we work together we could make a killing selling goods in 2004! Let's stock up on PS3 and Wii systems and sell them in 2004. Think about the profit to be made!

she was a man? :Q
how did you find out?

you do hear more of men pretending to be women than women pretending to be men.

yet another reason that meeting someone in person, or maybe webcam and phone is the only way you can establish a real friendship.

"She" told this long elaborate story on another message board about being in a car accident years ago and screwing up her legs, then she went in to see a specialist to see what they had to say, and they told her that in x years or so, she "might" be able to walk again. But just recently, she was in the passenger seat of a car and they got into another accident and not she can't walk for good.

Then some of the moderators of that board found some inconsistencies, checked the logs to find she was online at xx time when she claimed not to be, that she did not log on while she was in korea, finland, etc, and that she was actually from Tenessey. Eventually they asked her about it, and then she told everything.

Wow, wtf.

Nope not the same to me at all... online friends aren't real people... though if I were to meet them then maybe it would be a different story. If online friends come and go, thats fine by me.

I've got a lot of online friendships, but there are only a few I value as much as "real" friends.

On the other side, I met Juice Box through AT, and now we hang out almost every week at school.
