I see, you just edited.

You probably need to install your SATA driver right after your BIOS post.

Also, do you have your BIOS set to boot off of a SATA drive?

Put the drive's SATA cable on one of the SATA fittings that are up by the fan-cooled southbridge, not the ones down lower.

Are you sure that you have both the data cable and power cable for the HDD and optcal drive plugged in correctly? Did you made sure to set the optical drive to your primary boot disk in the bios?

I didn't have to install any drivers when I was installing Windows on my system...

Just make sure that the opical drive is set as the primary boot device. Otherwise, it is searching a blank hard drive or he floppy, or whatever.

Your owner's manual shows how to do it. It resets the motherboard to factory-default settings.

I had to when I installed XP on my SATA drive. I have a Gigabyte Nforce4 board.

To reset the cmos, there is a little jumper somewhere on the board. You will need the manual to find it, since each board is different.

threats, have you entered into your BIOS and gone to "Advanced BIOS " and then to "Hard Disk Boot Priority"?

I don't have AIM, sorry guy. You can download the manual from Giga-byte.com if you can't find yours. My system has caught Human.Generic.HeadCold, so I don't have a lot of energy to go on troubleshooting sprees tonight either

Don't hot-plug those cables while the system's running. Did you make sure the SATA drive is on one of the SATA fittings that are by the fan-cooled southbridge?

Go into the bios and try to find the boot sequence, then set the device your Windows CD is in ( CD-rom), then save and exit, windows should boot up and say press F6 to load a RAID driver, press F6, pop in the floppy that came with your mobo ( SATA driver) seleect the driver, install.
