Interesting read FM... So if American alt-righters spread the leaks on social media (and not a bunch of kids from Macedonia) would it be safe to assume the Russians had nothing to do with this?

Now we see the damage of our lack of directing proportionate and timely action against Russia. We have normalized their deviance and they have been brazen enough to attack the integrity of France's election. If we had looked toward Russia with contempt instead of to ourselves (security failings, contents of breaches, legitimacy of Trump's win, etc.) then perhaps this would not have happened.

As scary as it would have been before to be aggressive toward Russia, is it not significantly more scary now? And is it not more important now?

The fruits of our passivity and infighting are coming to bare.

I see plenty of motive. There was a lot of wtf in Moscow when France said 'non, non ships for you Vlad.' That alone was enough to illicit a reciprocal fook you in Russian terms. The subsequent effects of getting an anti-EU leader in office would just be icing on the cake.

Putin salvages his public image in part by drawing moral equivalences to the Western world. Trump and Le Pen actively partner in those equivalences. We are in desperate need of leaders with integrity regardless of their political views.
