This could possibly be stale but I have never seen a post regarding this. And a search turned up nothing, so here goes.

Why cant we have sub sections in hot deals example
Audio\Video Equipment
Hard Drive Thread
MB Thread
MB combo Thread
Periphials Thread CDR-CDRW-DVD, Mice, Speakers, ext.
Memory
Games [XBOX and PS2 threads already exist mabye more]
Misc Crap......Now I know one mans trash is another mans gold. But some of the "Hot Deals" are not even worth posting they should belong here where I will never have to look at them Example "Hot mustard for 50% off" Or " Get your free chinese beef jerky" Or "Get a free supersize at Mcdonalds" Need I go on?

Im sure there are more options for threads where you can go looking for one specific thing instead of browsing thru 10 pages of well...crap or valid hot deals that distract you from your true purpose Another example, Im looking for hardrives it would be nice if there was a Harddrive only Hot deal furum? [Yes I do know there is a search funtion as well so dont go there]

Now dont blast me for posting a non Hot deal in the Hot Deals furum. Since this is in direct line with the way hot deals are posted.

Cheers

COLD DEAL

I think this belongs in Brag & Moan

Personally, I think this idea is stupid because most of the time deals are combined into super deals (OfficeMax, etc). That and newbies will always post them in the wrong place. Too much of a headache.

Quote from Brag & Moan Thread:
This thread is for posting your off topic raves and rants, such as "X-company did this to me", and "Did you get?, I got mine".

Take your complaints where someone cares

It seems like asking to not get blasted or verbally abused, usually triggers a more intense respone.

Though to your idea, there would be a lot of categoiries (too many) if you think about it.

Guiness bar towel, free t-shirts, magazines, Big Macs, etc. and oh yeah computer stuff.

Good luck on the off topic post

Sorry to tell ya but I don't think this is a good idea either...I like how I'll be searching for a good RAM deal or something and stumble onto a good chinese beef jerky deal =P

Totally hot to find out about jerky you never knew you could order online. Although I haven't ordered yet(too cheap) but now I know where to order

Some people are really hard headed......This is not a Brag & Moan Neither is it OFF topic since it directly relates to the Hot Deas furum. Nor is it a bitch about the way the Hot deal furum currently is ran and moderated its simply a idea to make searching for hot deals for specific items easier and less time consuming for its users. Its simply a idea to make things more compact not bitching about what "Is" the hot deals furum.

And for those that replied nagativly Stop eating lemons and green apples...christ.

I don't think it's too bad an idea, but needs some work.

Maybe when posting, a list of check-boxes that applies to the deal, items like: Wireless, Networking, CPU, Desktop, Laptop, Optical Storage, etc...

Then features could be added to the "Search" function for filtering..... search for "Dell" with "Optical Storage" checked......
the check boxes would be optional, but would allow some filtering of searches......

anyhow, this thread really doesn't belong in this forum...... Forum Issues

None of the other deal sites i frequent seem to have any better organization anyway... if you find one that suits you better, just use that one instead since most of these deals are regurgitated across like 4 major sites. Good luck either way.

Most of the time when I check this forum, I'm not looking for anything specific, but browsing for whatever looks interesting. Breaking it up into sub-categories would make that kind of browsing a hassle. It would also be a problem with some deals which contain multiple items that span more than one category, or with items which are hard to classify.

I dont find it takes long to browse through the overall "Hot Deals" section if you check it regularly, or to use the search function if you're looking for something specific.

Thats a good idea. Posts can have check boxes. So, all the deals show up one page, but a pulldown filter on the top page can limit to one category, if you are desperate.

I doubt it will happen here, this is probably anandtech's basement area-last place to be renovated

I like to see a bunch of different hot deals. If I only search for what I am looking for, I will miss all those other hot deals I never knew I needed

Go into your profile and change the most recent replied to topic to the top, from yes to no. you will find the clutter goes away. I did this about a year ago and I find that I don't miss too many deals that become a page down quickly. Actually I have mine set at 100 threads per page. I find that it takes usually a day and a half before it hits the second page.

And for the OP this definately sounds like a forum issues rather than a hot deal.
