I really dislike the way that the new GTO looks like. It looks horrid. I like Pontiacs, I drive a 97 GTP, the GTO just looks like every blind person at GM took a swing at it with the ugly stick.
The SC kit for the 04 GTO is actually worth the money, about 6 grand for a nice big SC, intercooler (and all the parts for it, pump and a radiator), ECU upgrade, new fuel injectors, new fuel rails and a 3 year warranty.
I would have waited, if GM gets of their ass and releases the "Judge" version of the GTO, I will dump my GTP and get that.
Here is what it looks like:
front
front again
rear
looks mean, almost pissed off
another pic
pontiac arrowhead
functional hood scoops
for those that think that the side exhaust looks funky, here is the original GTO

GTO Judge = GTO w/ a wide body kit.
Looks great though. That's how they should come from the factory.
They also need the price to drop a hair. I'm on the fence between a Mustang GT (new body style) and the GTO.

The GTO is faster that all of them, and DOES handle pretty good. The Porsche is amazing on the road, and is a classic looking import. The Max... Well that is another thread, but I'll keep tweaking that car forever. It looks great and handles great.

Straight from the owner of the GTO, the GTO handles 'pretty good' and a 1992 FWD Maxima handles 'great.'
(That's the way I read it)

Well, he did say it had multiple thousands of dollars in suspension work.

If you value the fun-to-drive factor a lot, then Japanese cars are not the best. My acura is sooo boring and feels so heavy, although so far reliable and it saves me money on repairs. My friend doesn't like the way his camry drives either.

Fast -- but handles like a boat. I'd rather save my $$$ and get a used Vette. More fun to drive and they can actually go around corners -- something the GTO isn't too good at.
Besides, I have a big problem with Pontiac saying they are "re-releasing the GTO" and all the hype, and then just give us a 100% Holden Monaro with new interior and a different engine.
What a buncha losers. I won't ever buy a Pontiac.

"On October 2, 1978, Allen packed up 1 1/2 pounds of cocaine into a gym bag and brought it to a locker at the Kalamazoo, Michigan airport, where he and an associate were going to sell it to a man they knew as "Mike." "Mike" turned out to be an undercover police officer, and Tim Allen, then known by his birth name of Tim Allen Dick, was arrested. The amount possessed by Allen was just over 650 grams. If convicted under Michigan law, Allen would be required to serve life in prison."
