Steak, rare, with a 1 inch slab of blue cheese on it, with pepper and tons of salt, and potatoes that were fried in blue cheese dressing covered in melted cheese.


I know my heart hates me...but man, this was so good. Anyone ever have anything like this?

Bleu cheese sounds a bit strong to be on steak, but I've never had it, so I'm just speculating.

Sounds great, but aside from the potatoes I don't see why your heart would hate you.

I would agree that it is too strong for steak - especially one entire inch of cheese. That much cheese is too mcuh on most anything one would imagine. Kill the taste of that beef I would think.

Bleu cheese and steak is a common pairing...visit a nice high-end steakhouse and you'll usually find it available. As long as the steak is perfect, I usually don't want anything with mine.

I've had it, blue cheese matches rare beef VERY well. But not in that proportion. That's wayyyyy too much, it needs to be used sparingly to enhance the flavor of the steak without overpowering it. That much cheese you wouldn't be able to taste anything else.

I've had it, blue cheese matches rare beef VERY well. But not in that proportion. That's wayyyyy too much, it needs to be used sparingly to enhance the flavor of the steak without overpowering it. That much cheese you wouldn't be able to taste anything else.

The steak was extremly thick as well, so it worked out well. I wouldn't have wanted that much on a thin steak, but the cut was really thick, so I enjoyed it.

Yep. And . . . . it's awesome too. I do it at home sometimes, although I have a few variations that I like to go between. If it's cooked rare enough though, no toppings needed.

Blue cheese is a garnish, and should not be slabbed onto stuff. I doubt you'd even taste the steak with an inch of blue cheese on it. Sometimes I'll sprinkle Gorgonzola on top of a fillet, but that's about it.

I'm all for blue cheese on a steak, but 1 inch is a bit much. I'll take some blue cheese crumbled on top, then browned in an oven. That's good stuff, 1 inch though....
