according to the law, he's fine.. he punched her in self defense..

i personally dont know if i would have hit her.. probably would have tried to just divert her/her punches, although i do realize that's not easy... if she had a weapon, even something as little as a knife or a fork or even the bloodied spoon, i'd knock her ass out

But he had every right to defend himself and since she's confirmed the events, she's screwed. Chances are pretty good that hitting her in the face was not his only recourse, probably not the best recourse either, but she probably had it coming.

Regardless of the gender, in this situation I would have walked away and cooled down. Legally he had a right to hit her back, but ethically there is rarely ever a reason to fight back unless your life or someone else's is in danger.

I think he was justified. A woman drawing blood with a weapon is a whole different league than a woman slapping or punching with their hands. Personally, I would get more gratification from removing myself from the situation, calling the cops, and pressing charges.

Wrong. My buddy got into a drunken argument with his girlfriend. She took it to the next level by punching him in the face. A few people tried to break it up, she started on him again. He was getting wailed on by his girlfriend, and he pushed her back to keep her off him. She called the cops. Cops came, busted the party where my buddy and his girl decide to have their boxing match, and threw my buddy in the clinker for domestic violence. He got his face beaten in, did nothing to her aside from pushing her back, got himself and a few other people underages, almost got my buddies evicted, payed tons of fines, and got put on probation. He almost had to do time. Cops were like didn't care if she was hitting him. They were too busy loving handing out underages to really find the whole story. Judge sided with the girlfriend.

It's easy to say you would not have swung that hard, but when your face is gashed open and she's still swinging, you gotta react somehow. Trying to subdue somebody in that kind of craze would have probably resulted in more injuries (possibly serious) for the guy. He probably just swung out and ended up connecting with her nose. I hope the courts don't try to enforce some sort of double standard, this was clearly a self-defense reaction.

She's confirmed the events to a friend we both know. I have no idea what she's told the cops. If she's telling some other story, my friend who hit her might be in trouble. He's got a small gash above his eye, but he doesn't deny he punched her with intent to knock her out/down and broke her nose. Her face looks like hell apparently.

Notice the attempted prefix. America is a sex crime crazy nation. You pin her down/lay on her to keep her from hurting you more, she says you were touching her inappropriately or trying to sexually assault her, your life gets ruined.
