I have no mercy for cunts. But it sucks that I will be judged as a weak man for saying that.

And to an appropriate level to remove the threat, but not beyond.

Hit in the head and bleeding from a strike with a weapon and a punch as a response is appropriate.
Had he struck back with a weapon, things might be different.
Without :camera:'s , we cannot judge as to suitability versus size of participants.

Ideally yes that would work but she's already willing to attack you with a weapon. In the struggle to wrestle her to the ground she could grab something sharp within her reach and stab you. Better to take her out at a distance.

If she admits the gash was her doing first, and according to the OP she has on several occasions, then a good lawyer should do him some justice.

Wrong. My buddy got into a drunken argument with his girlfriend. She took it to the next level by punching him in the face. A few people tried to break it up, she started on him again. He was getting wailed on by his girlfriend, and he pushed her back to keep her off him. She called the cops. Cops came, busted the party where my buddy and his girl decide to have their boxing match, and threw my buddy in the clinker for domestic violence. He got his face beaten in, did nothing to her aside from pushing her back, got himself and a few other people underages, almost got my buddies evicted, payed tons of fines, and got put on probation. He almost had to do time. Cops were like didn't care if she was hitting him. They were too busy loving handing out underages to really find the whole story. Judge sided with the girlfriend.

Sucks for your friend, but it probably didn't help him that he was already drinking underage. The difference here is that she was wielding a weapon which caused a semi-serious injury. Breaking a girls nose after a couple punches would be more questionable, but IMO still justifiable self defense.

edit: Btw, did your friend have any visible bruises or cuts or anything? That makes a big difference of course.

Just take some pretty pictures of the gash, keep the spoon untouched and there will be no trouble proving self-defence. That or it turns into another 'he said/she said'. As for hitting women, the second there's blood or a weapon involved, all 'rules' go out the window.

She's confirmed the events to a friend we both know. I have no idea what she's told the cops. If she's telling some other story, my friend who hit her might be in trouble. He's got a small gash above his eye, but he doesn't deny he punched her with intent to knock her out/down and broke her nose. Her face looks like hell apparently.

Your friend is an idiot if he told that to the cops. He shouldn't say that to anyone. You NEVER tell the cops you intended to hurt somebody when you hit them. You tell them that you were defending yourself. Intent to harm raises the stakes/charges bigtime.

In most states, in a fight between a two people who have ever lived together or been in a relationship, it's considered domestic abuse.

In most states, domestic abuse results in *both* people involved being arrested, regardless of who hit who first.

I think your friend did exactly right. He used just enough force to get her to stop, and not a bit more. Anyone who hits ought to expect to get hit back. The fact that she's female doesn't mean diddly-squat, if she hit first.

Yes, I'm a girl.

My buddies face was all messed up, his old gf had a thing for rings and they left quite an impression on him (god that was a horrible pun). And she was going at it. It took a couple guys to pull her off him the first time. The second time she went at him, they had all thought it was calmed down. He pushed back, she hit into the wall, she called the cops, he was a mess, she had a bit of bruising and scrapes (which we believe was from my other buddies pulling her off him), she was pissfaced (extremely intoxicated), he was just drunk, and yet the cops put him in the cuffs. She was flipping sh it too and acting nutty.

He didn't simply get mad and lay her out, he was attacked with a weapon (which caused bleeding), and then hit repeatedly, and he defended himself.

So, if being attacked by a weapon isn't enough of a reason to defend yourself, even from a woman, what is? Wait till she stabs you in the chest? How 'bout if she shoots you, then is it "appropriate" to respond with a fist to the nose?

Screw that, old man, I'm not a woman's (or anybody elses, for that matter) pincushion.

I dunno, maybe I'm weird.. I'd just never hit a girl.. My ex used to slap me all the time but I never thought of raising my fist to her. If she had a knife in her hand, yeah, I'd take away the knife with force. But punching? I just couldn't hit a girl. It's a little sexist, I agree, but most girls just aren't as strong andit's not a fair fight. Now, if someone tough like Serena Williams was threatening me I'd go for the balls!

This is the problem with America these days. Women still think their privy to all the old traditions even though they wan't to be "equal" in all other aspects of social and economic life. Yes, now you can do anything a guy can do and that includes getting hit when your deserving of it. Deal with it. Stupid b!tch sits there and says "You can't hit a girl, ever - under any circumstances." And I'd simply say, "I just did."

Bout time she got taught a lesson, spoiled little brat

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't get slapped around by NOBODY. And the knife?
Automatic call for knock out.

I know plenty of girls who could knock me out if they tried hard enough. There are guys weaker than girls. Strength shouldn't be a consideration here.

shens on her screaming "you're in big trouble now, you can't hit a girl!"

That's what I got told she said, but you're right, he's probably paraphrasing.

I have no idea what either party told the cops. I got told all of this in a very frantic conversation early today and haven't talked to him since then, everything I'm hearing since then has been through mutual friends/third parties.

When he said "I punched her back in the face and broke her nose" I asked "were you just swinging wildly or did you mean to hit her in the face". His response was "I hit her in the face on purpose, she was going absolutely nuts and I needed to get her off me as soon as possible" I took this to mean he hit her with the intent to knock her out or at least make her think reallllly hard before going at him again.

I'm planning on talking to him again soon to get an update of some sort on this, I'm at work right now.
