I wouldnt have hit her but hes justified for doing it. Also kicking a person will get you in more hot water than punching.

I think it's effed up that some women think they can hit a man without any consequences.

I don't think your friend really was defending himself... he was retaliating. Personally I would have defended the punches and either kicked her in the stomach or thrown her on the ground and gotten the hell out (to defend myself)... the face is just not an option against a female unless being threatened with a gun or knife. I would have gone straight to the police from that point. He'll be lucky if he gets out of this w/out jailtime.

Too bad he didn't have pepper spray to nail her with -- that would have been a huge FTW!

I think that fact that he hit her once time and one time only and that pretty much ended it says a lot in the guys defense. He didn't continue to punch or kick her while she was down or anything. She came at him violently and he ended it with one punch.

disagree. Since it's not some random person on the street, i'm sure there was build up to the "attack." It wasn't random and, come on, he probably did something to warrant a spoon to his face. But, that aside, there was probably time for him to walk out and tell her to cool off.

It just doesn't add up - if I was walking down the street and some crazy lady came at me with a knife, well, I'd kick the sh1t out of her because it was random and my instinct is to preserve my own life. but for a girlfriend to attack you - there's more to the story than we're hearing...

one thing i have learned from watching cops all these years (one of my favorite shows) is that the cops do not care if she hit him first. JUST the fact he struck her in the face. sure there have been a few times that the cops arrested the right person but very few.

there is such a huge double standard when it comes to assault.

i've seen womens water polo....theyre definately not delicate little flowers thats for sure, theyre worse than the men sometimes.

besides, women need to decide what they want....they want equal oppertunities in all things now, equal pay, equal prospects, equal winnings at such things like wimbledon, equal chance of landing drives in motor racing etc etc....equalling out all the previously male dominated areas.

now if they want that, they then cant have this "you cant touch a woman" arguement when they get into physical fights with men. if you wanna be treated equally then be prepared to get punched back...simple as that. last time i checked having a strength advantage isnt the be all an end all in a fight, and a woman is just as capable as a man at wielding a weapon.

i agree that your mate should of done something, if pucnhing her in the face was the best shot he could get to stop multiple hits with a metal object then fair enough. i would of maybe went for her arms to try restrain her, but either way she should not of expected to be "untouchable".

so how do you back down in this sitaution? just let the girl keep punching you while you call the cops? i suppose that is one way..

according to the law, he's fine.. he punched her in self defense..

i personally dont know if i would have hit her.. probably would have tried to just divert her/her punches, although i do realize that's not easy... if she had a weapon, even something as little as a knife or a fork or even the bloodied spoon, i'd knock her ass out

It actually isn't that hard with a little training. If you use both forearms to block the swing, it is very easy to lock her arm and take the weapon away.
