I know atleast I think I know that 1st cousins are children of your aunt or uncle thats related to your mom/dad.

Isn't a dowry usually given by the female's family to the male's family? I wouldn't call an engagement ring a dowry really, they have very low resale value and they're generally only sold if the marriage/engagement ends...

2nd cousins share the same great-grandparents, 3rd cousins share the same great-great-grandparents. Your first cousin once-removed would be your parent's cousin or your cousin's child. First cousin twice removed would be your grandparent's cousin or your cousin's grandchild. So on and so forth.

I'd report them to the INS (actually, the USCIS now). He should be deported, and she should be in jail (if they do go through with it). There's a reason there are laws. You don't get to pick and choose which ones are 'good laws' and which ones you can ignore. If he wants to come over so bad (and I'm sure he does), then he can go through the same channels as every other Chinese citizen that wants to come over legally......

Further, while there are millions of illegals entering every year, if you actually do go through the paperwork and stuff, you're a lot more likely to end up on the INS's radar, and they might actually check. I hope they do in this case, boot his butt out and put her in jail.

BUT I could see circumstances on why they want to get their family in the USA beacuse it does allow flexibility to be able to have a link between the two countries. I wonder though if she really wants to marry him or she might be pressued into it and she gets mad at you because she doesn't want to seem disobedient to her parents else she'd be "selfish" for not "helping the family". I didn't thikn people would actually try that though, my guess its a small number.

If this works, and he comes over and they're married..
1. I suppose they'll live together? Are they living with her parents? Because he'll be POOR, unless he can speak english very well and has marketable skills.
2. Does she plan on ever separating from her cousin? I guess if she had a bf, he'd blow up.
3. Has she given any thoughts about her own life? It'll be gone if she goes through with this..
4. The only person who gains from this is the guy. And maybe his family, if he is hardworking and manages to save and send money back. If he's as young and immature as she is, he could go bad and not make much of himself..
