Friend wants to marry her cousin so he can get US Citizenship

She's around 22, dropped all her classes this semester... She wants to marry her cousin(of a different last name) so he can move here as a US Citizen. I've already told her I think its a travesty to marriage and involves lots of risk including deportation(for the guy), and possible jail time for her... plus its wasting a few years of her youth being married... her family really wants that part of her extended family to come over to America(they're quite poor in China, so her mom sends money all the time... with the cousin here, he could make money to send back to China)... I know she's upset at me for not supporting her and saying these harsh things. I tell her there are many other ways(although much much slower) to get US Citizenship, but she signed off ignoring me.

It's kind of risky. The powers that be do investigate those marriages. It is actually a criminal offence to marry someone solely to get them into the country. If they get found out, he gets deported, with zero chance of ever getting back in the country. To make matters worse, it is illegal to marry a cousin in many (most?) US states. Then again, if I was living in China, I'd do just about anything to get out. So who knows.

cousins can marry and you can pull it off, but I don't know how common it is for a Chinese person to marry their cousin.

No, marriage between cousins is actually outlawed in many US states.

Marriage between siblings is outlawed in ALL states, as far as I am aware.

If she wants to go through the paperwork and get married, let her.

It will take between 6-9 months for the pperwork to be processed and approved.
then once he gets here, they will have to be married within 90 days and stay married for 3 years.

The INS will be checking on them. Make sure she sees the movie Green Card.

All you have to do is decide if you wish to report the intended fraud to the INS or keep your mouth shut for the sake of the family.

I don't think I'll go that far as to call and report them... Besides, this friend(the girl), isn't very close to me, we just talk online and on the phone sometimes... I just want to stop her from making the biggest mistake in her life...
