Other way around. He is the one that insisted we change the hangout time to a Tuesday after he gets off work so he doesn't have other stuff goin on. Really sure he wanted to go but got some guilt trip or command from da boss. They have been married 5 years and has 2 toddler kids.

He is always shooting the shit like normal on group text. Hanging out is very seldom anymore if its not a kid thing. Maybe ill set up a camping trip so the girls can chat and the guys can go hunt some badgers while drinking beer...

man, kids are wonderful, and totally ruin your (social) life with those who either don't have kids, or don't want yours around when you hang out

Once your married your priorities change, if they don't you shouldn't have gotten married. Hanging out in bars is pathetic and for young single people and losers. I haven't been to one in so long I forgot...and I'm not married.

 I meet up with a friend of mine occasionally for a beer at a local micro brewery after work maybe once every couple months on a Friday evening right after work. This place makes really good beer and you can't buy it anywhere (Belching Beaver in Carlsbad). We enjoy the beer and just sit and talk about our jobs, motorcycles, families etc. and we're home by 7PM.

I actually like spending time with my wife and son so I really have no desire to go out drinking with single people or hanging around in bars. I can't remember the last time I had more than one drink at a bar in the past 10 years.

Jesus, are you serious?

I know many professionals that will go to a bar to catch a game or watch a boxing/MMA match.

Seems you have a problem with drinking.

This.

Sure, if all you ever do is hang out at bars, that's pretty sad. But otherwise, it's no big deal.

Depends on the bar. I love dive bars that aren't pickup joints for pretentious 20-somethings. But then, I go to enjoy hanging out with friends, having a couple of beers, playing some pool, etc.

I think that's key. If your friends are single they don't seem to understand, and they feel slighted when they want to do something and you choose the GF/wife over them. I have a buddy who ALWAYS assumes the GF/wife is keeping somebody from going hunting or fishing. It doesn't cross his mind that people actually enjoy being with their partners, and would choose that over hanging with a single guy that's going to rag on them for "getting a get-out-of-jail card from the Mrs huh?"

Hope you're not that kind of guy OP, because they're real downers.

+1, your wife is supposed to be your best friend, how else are you to last the distance?

Why do you care if people are hooking up?

I don't mind at all. It's just that I'm 45 and would prefer the crowd to be near my age.

I go to places on the ocean. They are bar/restaurants. Most folks there are 30-60.

Good music, good food, and good drinks.

I think people have teenage niteclubs confused with bars and adult clubs.
