Friend's System

My buddy just put his system together today, a few of you may remember the post asking for input, and is getting a blank screen on boot. The system is core hardware identical to mine so there shouldn't be any compatability probs etc.

When I asked here is the following info:
1. no beeps on boot up
2. Reseated the video card
3. Motherboard's power light is on.
4. Nothbridge, heatsink, video card, and all case fans are running.
5. Switched video cards to one that is known to work.
6. installed is ram, processor, keyboard, mouse, video card
7. resteated the ram

Antec SX-1030B SOHOB
IMB Deskstar 60GXP 40gb
256MB 2100 Crucial DDR
Teac Floppy
Asus A7M266

What else should be checked before he sends anything back? He is bringing the system out to me tommorow for me to look at it.

Man that was stupid.... I forgot how to read.... If there is a jumper for 133fsb, popit back to 100fsb. I'm just guessing here...I've never messed with tha particular board.

try a new higher quality RAM...and reseat it over and over....damn DIMM chips.

Hrm, I have always thought crucial was top notch? Mine is set in jumper free mode works fine and i think is default but if not it is 10X1333 I believe.

so, you may have a dead CPU.

double check all case wires hooked up to mobo...maybe causing a short...

Also make sure cpu fan is plugged in all the way and to the right mobo connector...some mobos will not boot unless it is detected...

Keep us informed...

Also No beeps does not just mean CPU!!!!! It also could be the mobo....could be speaker is incorrectly hooked up and you are not hearing any beeps cause of it.

Edit: I wanted to mention force him to check the wires thoroughly...I have seen way too many times when people swore they had it right only to find out it was wrong...I was one of those people once...Swallow the damn pride and check it..

Thanks for the input all, I will see the system myself tommorow as he is bringing it down and I plan to go over it with ye old fine tooth comb.

Not sure about this board but some boards will not boot without the fan plugged into the MB header for the CPU fan. Also check to see if he has put a standoff where it dont belong.

about the post....a continuous beep means RAM? well i can attest to this being FALSE, i just got done messing with a new system with mis=seated RAM... no beeps nothing.
