The fourth season begins one week after Peter vanished, and as the two universes maintain an uneasy alliance, Lincoln Lee helps the Fringe team on a shape-shifting investigation that hits close to home.

Was like, cool colonel sheppard is joining the show, followed by next scene of him getting axed.

Did enjoy the numerous references to the past and how things were through the interpreted dialogue.

Although I wonder exactly how much was removed from their minds, like the knowledge of the agent guy. For awhile I thought they had "forgotten" about the shapeshifters.

It confused me as well, because they did kill him. They hacked off his arm and leg, and used him as a counterweight to bring "Fauxlivia" back home near the end of season 3.

This season really needs to start picking up. That episode was terribly boring except for the 10 seconds where you could see Olivia running facial recognition on Peter and the last two minutes when she talked to Walter.

I've only seen the first episode so far, and to me it felt sort of disjointed in that without Peter, the characters really don't make sense working together I think. I do like the nerdy new guy, and hope he sticks around for a while.

Love the concept of new shapeshifters that appear to be different from the old ones. Coming from a third universe, perhaps? I never liked the fact that they focused on only "here" and "there".

From what I've read about the next episodes and interviews etc. Peter will be returning soon, most likely in the 4th episode and it will reveal more about an "outside influence" on what has been occurring in these two universes. Most likely having to do with the observers, as they were supposed to prevent Peter from coming back and didn't.

Well, in the first episode the Observer decided not to hit the switch to erase Peter from time. I wonder if we're going to eventually see a third Walter orchestrating an attack on our original two universes (though there's as yet no motivation).

I doubt there will be a third version of all of the current characters. I suspect a third universe will instead look to explain the Observers and the underground missile/probe stuff from earlier seasons.

I'm more concerned in how Peter returning will affect the show, I don't want them to just hand wave away everything that happened before in the earlier seasons, cause that is BS. So it will be interesting.

This show is dead. I've watched it from the beginning and no longer really know or care what is going on in the larger story, and that is using the term liberally. It has lost all structure. Some episodes are insulated and others move some grander story along. I just don't care anymore, it is too random and uninteresting. The ratings mentioned on wiki tell the story: this show is dead, I expect no fifth season.

This show is spent, heck nobody even cares about this thread cause no one is watching! Last episode couldn't even muster three million viewers.

I am loving this last few episodes... although it almost feel like they are trying to wrap up. The main story is almost complete, they revealed almost everything Who are the observeres, what's their porpose, Peter knows that he is in the right universe, he is back with Olivia. There is truce between the two universes and they both understand and recognize shape shifters as their main enemy. We almost know who all were "typing" from the two sides. Only thing that remains is the capture and defeat the shape shifters and the German dude David Robert Jones... it will be the end game, the one that they have been preparing for. I hope Walter regains his intelligence for that war!!!

Seems like they are going to end this season...

When did season 4 start up again? Roughly the last shows I remember (last year?) was with Peter returning, and starting to help out, albeit was still unrecognized by walter, and somewhat 'untrusted' by others. I was shocked to see it airing again on Friday.

I had read that a partial list of Renewed shows had been released, and so far, Fringe is not on it. Fox loves killing Sci Fi.....

One thing I wish wasn't the case about this is that the show has taken on the assumption that there are just two universes (they don't explicitly state this, but they act as if this were the case). I always liked David Robert Jones, and like the fact that he's back as a villain (they never really used him to great extent back in season 1, and he's a great, great character).

I've been watching season 1 again, and one thing that I liked then that's missing now is the sense that some bad crazy shit was coming down the pipe and we had no idea what was coming (though the bad guys in the show did).

apparently they did similar in previous season's 19th episode. will have to go back and check.
