I'll try to make this simple for you, since you are apparently unable to read even the section of this article that you yourself have quoted.

There are three branches of government. The judiciary (that's what a judge is part of) is there to interpret laws passed by Congress (as, in this case, implemented by the Executive Branch, specifically BLM and the Forest Service).

The judge in this case followed the law as it was written. If she had allowed variances from the law as she deemed appropriate, it would (at least arguably) have constituted the dreaded "judicial activism." Enforcing the laws as they're written is what judges are for, at least if you ask President Bush and Tom DeLay.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: why can't this forum impose a "You must be THIS tall to post" rule?

that pretty much sums it up. nothing left to say i don't think...

A troll title like that really calls out for an appropriate reply.

< sarcasm >

Since so many of your posts sound like they were written by a vegetable, you should be happy and consider moving to Washinton.

I guess "Fringe treehugging leftist prioritizes plants over people" was a more catchy title than "Federal judge follows federal law".

You have proof? The timber industry is in the pockets of.. oh wait. So you think industry that complains about laws is fine, but following the law isn't? Wow, you are screwed up.

It is good to have you back Don. I had almost forgotten about LT. Thanks for the walk down memory lane and yes, I think might be right on this one. The similarities are uncanny. Also amazing that someone can post nearly 2000 times in 2 months and have absolutely nothing to say.

Logging sucks. When I go out to the forests here in Washington, it ruins everything when all the trees are 10 feet tall.

Regardless of what I think the title of this topic twists the actual article a lot, an article I doubt the OP or many of the other people replying even bothered to read.

Apparently Zendari, reading comprehension is not a skill you possess. The topic title and op are not supported by the article you posted. I suggest 12 years of reading practice, which the majority of us accomplished via 6 years of elementary school, followed by 3 years of middle school and finally 3 years of high school. Oh, and this strict education regimen works best if you pull your head out of your ass.

Congress passed the current environmental laws, past presidents signed them into law, and they're been upheld in the courts for decades.

Which matters not to GWB- with the stroke of a pen, he attempts to change them to suit the timber industry. The judge ruled correctly- the place to change the law is in Congress.

honestly, do you think titling a thread like this is actually going to encourage discussion?
i dont like to toss the troll card around and it annoys me when i see others drop the t-bomb so easily but while this may be worthy of a serious and intelligent discussion, the attitude presented in the thread title and OP is so far below the standards of P&N.

No, no, you have your definitions all wrong.

Activist judge: 1. A liberal judge that fails to follow federal law. 2. A liberal judge that follows federal law.

Federal lands are so overgrown at the present that its almost criminal NOT to clear out some of the timber. As far as protected species, sure, find a peaceful way to protect them. Don't spike the trees so that an innocent logger or saw mill worker sustains an injury while just doing their job. So many issues face the President these days, I believe that George is doing a pretty fair job, he has stuck to his beliefs and pretty much to the promises that he made while running for re-election.

Funny, redhatlinux has now switched his lack of knowledge of weapons and armor to a lack of knowledge of forestry (and apparently almost anything else). Buddy, remove your nose from George's #ss, and take a look at the real word around you. You sound like a complete prick.

I have not researched this but if the law was one created by the Legislators then the judge was correct.

If the law was created by the courts or other Government organization she may have made the right decision but, in my opinion, she probably did not.

Now, where were the judges when President Clinton and VP Al Gore were busy helping the lumber companies? What the did to the Tiny Thicket (formerly the Big Thicket) should have resulted in the outrage of every human. Perhaps those that would have been outraged had it been a Republican President committing such atrocities were too focused on cigars to notice forests being butchered.

Of course, I also objected to their giving control of our National Forests to the UNESCO.
