$40 for 6mpbs still sucks.

Not in 2003 . With Adelphia that's what they had with 768k up. Then I moved back to my parents house in Riverside and the same $40 got you maybe 1-2mbps with Charter, may have even still been 256k.

But yea FIOS is ownage. Pings are awesome, paying for 25/25, get 31/26 and that's in real world downloading.

Charter lies about their speeds, at least in West Covina. You'll get 25 down on speed tests, but on an actual download it would never top 18mbps.

12mb DSL. I only get a bill for 10 bucks, but technically I'm paying for the rest of it through my rent. Only about 768k up though, which sucks. The positive is that I can generally max it when needed. Down, latency isn't very good. Looking forward to leaving this place and getting internet worth a damn.

Locally I pay $60 for 25 Mbit on Cox, and usually get up to 30-35Mbit throughput if I have some good compression and a fast enough source (ie newsgroups). In my last apartment it chugged around primetime, but at my current house it's golden. I wish they'd hurry up with DOCIS3 so I can upgrade to 50Mbit.

My girlfriend is in the middle of absolute nowhere. She does get DSL, but it's not even a megabit. When I used a hacked PRL to have my Evo roam on Verizon's cell network up there, I got faster speeds off that. The real kicker is that she stays in a detached garage apartment and her landlords, living not more than 25 feet away, are "too far away" to get DSL.

I've thought about bumping my internet up from 3/1, but the only time I need the speed is downloading. I'm paying $35 right now and it'd be an extra $5 for 6 down and $10 more for 12 down.

Wait until about 6:30pm... then come back and complain how slow your connection is.
Hmm, I work for the monster and have cable modem service instead. AT&T offers 1.5Mbps service as their best offering while Comcast offers me 22Mbps which isn't slowing down period.

Suggestion, to SunnyD: Stop drinking the AT&T Kool-Aid.

I have no options aside from 6Mbps ATT It only became available a few years ago so frankly I'm grateful to have it.

you guys are lucky to be an area with competition. bay area sucks. At least I can get Uverse and I'm happy with my 12mbits at 45 bucks even. No extra taxes and fees.

Comcast sucks ass. without tv service they want 40 bucks for 1.5mbits, 50 for 3mbits, 60 for 12mbits.

I've love to see Fios come here but I'm doubting it ever will.

i just tested mine at 7 and its just as fast as it always is

gotta love teh ratio of down to up

Mines pretty much the same. I'm not sure what the exact speed is but I think there's some type of boost involved. And yeah I never really have issues with slowdowns at certain times of the day.

$35 a month here for 12 down/1.5 up DSL (Att uverse). No complaints here, I get consistent 11.6/1.49. I can't get any other ISP here :/.

$20/month special for 1 year with 6Mb down/0.5 up DSL from ATT (naked DSL - without phone service). The local cable company would not give a break on price if I only want broadband and nothing else.

I am envy at some of you with high speed and lower price. No, I do not live in BFE or rural remote area.

I have 20mbps with Comcast. Still prefer Dsl if it was available here.

Constant downtime every other day/night and it drops to DSL speeds after 7pm. If that's the case I'll have DSL for reliability.
