Front fan question on Antec SX10x0 series cases

Hi,

I'm just building my system now with an Antec SX1040B case and wanted to install a fan in front of the hdd cage instead of on the very bottom below the hdd cage. There is no fan holder, so how am I supposed to attach a fan in this position? Do I move a fan cage? Do I just bolt it to the metal frame? Do I have to use a slim line fan? There doesn't seem to be much room in front of a drive. The instructions aren't very clear on this.

The case comes standard with a fan holder inside the front of the hard drive cage. Pull out the lower hard drive cage to snap the fan into the holder.

The front fans on the SC8xx/10xx use 2 different holders. One is below the bottom HD cage and snaps to the main case. The other looks completely different, and snaps into the lower HD cage.

If you don't have the HD cage holder, you CAN use one like the lower fan holder on the case, as the case has the mount holes for one. Just trim down the large tab on the casefan holder so that you can fit the drives into the HD cage.

I believe that all the SX 1000 series Antec cases should come with the fan mount in the hard drive cage - at least the specs say there is one there. My SX 1000, which is the same case as the 1030 and 1040 but without a power supply, came with the hard drive cage fan mount.

I have an SX1030 and it DOES have a HD drive fan holder. If you are missing one then call up Antec and tell them that it did not come with one. They will probably send you a new one. I had a problem where my power-switch cable was severed and they sent me a new cable harness, switches, LED's free of charge and I received them in like 5 or 7 days.

Antec is great for support.

My case was missing the HD fan holder. Sent an email and they put a free one in the mail for me that day.

Can't ask for more than that.

Doh! I was looking through all the nuts and bolts for my case and realized that I had pulled the fan cage out of the lower 31/2" drive cage initially because I didn't think I was going to use it.

Anyway.. I've got it worked out now. Thanks for the replies.
