Front panel to mobo connector mismatch

I'm not sure how this came about -- one of the front panel ports on my new motherboard doesn't seem to match up with the front panel connector. The connector on the motherboard is 2-pin [+ -]. The connector for the front panel is 3-pin [+ blank -]. It's the Power LED indicator connector, so it's not critical, but it'd be nice to get it working.

My old board had a secondary 3-pin Power LED connector in addition to the 2-pin, so it worked fine. This is especially weird because the old board was an Intel-brand (presumably Foxconn OEM), and the new board is retail Foxconn. Did they forget to put the 3-pin connector on ?

pretty sure every board I have ever worked with has a 2pin. I would say this is the fault of the case, not the board. However, just change the wires and let part of the connector hang off the header. Should be pretty easy to do.

its not unusual... just do as was suggested above and change the wires (very easy to do)

I just finished slipping the + wire out of the connector head and putting it into the previously empty socket (it now looks like [blank + -]. It came off and went back in easily enough that I think the case manufacturer probably intended it to be usable with either the regular POWER LED 2-pin or the ALT POWER LED 3-pin.

Anyways, that seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the tip guys.
