Frontpage is broken

Hi,

Upon password reset on the frontpage, i get the following notice:

Password reset was unsuccessful. Please correct the errors and try again.

• System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.0 Authentication Required. This is due to attempting to send an email using PHP with no authentification. You need to start sending emails with a authentificated account, or simply enable DKIM on the domain.

Welcome to our forums. Unfortunately, we here at forums.anandtech. com have nothing to do with accounts at the main site anandtech.com. You will have to email someone there for assistance.

They say there is a problem with your email account and, according to my own search, my results show that your email account is not valid. You must have a permanent and valid account to post here.
If you wish to maintain accounts there and here you will need to change your email account to a valid one.

It's my server thats responding to yours, or the frontpage for that matter, that you cant send me emails without using any authentification. Thats error 5.7.0 for you.

The way your basicly trying to send emails is extremely outdated. All email platforms most of the time require you to email by organisation or by a authentificated email adres.

What 'frontpage'? www.anandtech.com or forums.anandtech.com?

The two are separate domains, fwiw. [199.250.206.28] and [99.84.125.100]

Well, you may be hosed. You could try getting a hold of Ryan Smith on twitter via DM, he might be able to direct you.
This forum is run separate from the Anandtech site, so I'm pretty sure posting here won't help.

I stopped using twitter completely. So if someone is able to reach out to anyone, that would be perfect.

You could try contacting Ryan Smith as mentioned, but if you don't use twitter, I don't know how to contact him other than on these forums, and he may or may not be on here a lot. You could even try Ian Cutress, who might be able to point you in the right direction, and he seems pretty active, at least on the main site.

You might get some help contacting someone at Future plc, either from the corporate contact us page, or maybe someone like Viddyvane if he still works there.

I believe so. You can do @Ryan Smith for instance, or you could PM him, but I am not sure how often he checks the forums, and users may or may not receive email notifications from forum PMs, depending on their choice. There is a list of Staff under the members page link, to be found on the left menu column. I do not know if that is up to date though. GL
