I don't know if this is a good deal or not. I suspect the corsair is value select with CAS 3. The Mushkin is probably 2.5-4-4, but I am just guessing. When the store opens I will call and check. Saw this in the
Arlington ad

Also, kinda warm is a boxed 2800+ and nForce2 Ultra 400 mobo combo for $99

Looks like a pretty hot deal for both the Corsair and the Mushkin.

Since they are basically about the same price after rebate anyone have any comments as to which one of these sticks is better?

Thanks

The cheapest Mushkin Dual pack listed on their site is PC3200 Blue 2-3-3

I need to find out if this is good in the Bay Area too.

I don't think it's Mushkin Blue, if you go to newegg.com Mushkin sells a basic "green" series as well.

From what I can tell the Corsair is cas 3 vs Mushkin cas 2.5, however I'm not sure on the other timing specs as it's been awhile since I bought memory.

Cheapeast dual pack listed at newegg is Mushkin Blue, BUT the newegg site is listing the Mushkin Blue at 2.5-4-4 and default of 2.5V. The Mushkin site lists 2-3-3 for Blue and default of 2.6 - 2.8 V. Maybe Mushkin changed the specs recently. Even 2.5-4-4 at 2.5V would be very good, should do at least 2.5-3-3 at 2.8V.

Perhaps this change in specs to the Blues is why they're being blown out a Fry's.

1 CAS 3 for $60
vs.
2 CAS 2.5 for $130

I'd say it depends on how much RAM you need and if you need Dual Channel. These are different products for different needs.

BOTH are good deals on Lifetime Warantee memory.

My situation is that I need to purchase (2) 512mb sticks of memory. Currently I will be using it on a non dual channel motherboard (@ PC2700). I'm just trying to plan ahead for when I will need a CPU/Mobo upgrade soon.

So I guess being that the Mushkin is Cas 2.5 it is faster and therefore better?

I called Mushkin with the part number from the kit I bought today at Fry's (which is 3884167)

They said that it is 2.5Volt CAS 2.5-3-3-8 And verified that it is lifetime warranty.

Not bad for $130 AR. I'm going to keep the pack I bought.

Sweet, I think I'll pick some up on the way home.

2.5-3-3-8 at 2.5v is pretty good

Being rated at 2.5v is cool.... means that much better overclocked performance at 2.8v

1) It is NOT CAS 3!
One part of the label on the memory reads:
DDR 400 (2.5) 512M*16

Plus the dude who called Mushkin and verified it's 2.5-3-3

2) I'd be interested in hearing the experiences that points towards Mushkin being mediocre.

3) Corsair IS on sale, as mentioned in this very thread.

Picked up a pack at lunch today. The memory modules on the sticks are Promos V58C2256 on a dual sided DIMM. Has a "Dual Mushkin 1gb PC3200" sticker on it with part number 3884167. Called Mushkin and provided all the above information and confirmed that it is Cas 2.5. The support rep stated that is should run at 2.5-3-3-7.

Is this as good or better than my Samsung 512MB PC-2700 DDR333 RAM Dual Channel SPD Enhanced DDR? Or, should I just buy another 512 of the Samsung? I could use another stick as I often have lots of windows open and for some reason my windows me loves to drain memory over time!

OK just installed the Mushkin memory and confirm the following from CPU-Z.

DDR-SDRAM PC3200 - 512MB
CAS # Latency: 2.5 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay: 3 clocks
RAS# Precharge: 3 clocks
Cycle Time (TRAS): 6 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (TRC): 10 clocks

This is the first time I've used CPU-Z but from the Web site I believe it shows SPD info. Therefore the above results would confirm that this memory is 2.5-3-3-6

I was in there earlier and was tempted to pull the trigger. I have 2*256 OCZ PC3500 EL but they're not a matched pair. I can only run at default OPTIMAL in my bios which is CAS 2.0 and the other settings pretty high. I don't know what the problem is as I tried a higher voltage. Would this be much slower than what I currently have?

Sometimes I just get impatient when exiting from UT2004 or just running multi-windows and multi-apps. I wanted to put this off for when prices settle down a little, but I don't know if they will again before the end of the year. I don't know. It's no emergency.

Has anybody tried the Mushkin 1GB PC3200 in the Dell 400SC? I know the 400SC is picky on the ram. I have one on order and I need a gig of PC3200. Thanks
