Who cares if the board is good when the processor costs that much alone

I think that if you're patient enough, Frys will be running the same promotion but with the ECS KN1 Lite Mobo for $150.00. They ran it last Tuesday and I totally missed it. I had just bought the same combo but with an AM2 socket and the ECS nForce4-A board. Anyway, from my observations the difference between the rx480-a and the KN1 Lite is that the 480 has a single firewire port and the KN1 lite has 4 SATAII connectors.

I don't know how the RX480 overclocks, but people have reviewed that the KN1 Lite overclocks well.

Oh, and the Kn1 lite is the nForce4 Ultra chipset and the RX480 is ATI. Anyway, Frys regularly sells the 4200+ at $180 w/ a AM2 motherboard. So unless you have some left over DDR memory you want to reuse, you might want to wait till an AM2 combo comes around since DDR prices are almost as expensive as DDR2.

Or if you're going to junk the mobo anyway and don't mind spending extra cash for a good mobo, they also sell the e6300 for $170.00 and if you overclock it, it will spank almost everything AMD has to offer.

I bought the KN1-Lite combo around the start of this year, its a decent mobo. But the only problem I have with this mobo is large data transfers via usb 2.0. Mouse, printers, and flash drives work fine, but cd-rw or portable hard drives gives me a system reboot.

I recently jumped on the ECS C51GM-M (V1.0) w/ AMD X2 4200+ deal, hopefully that mobo is better than the Lite I have.

I have the same mobo as yours that has never given me any problem besides being a poor overclocker. I'd suggest to upgrade the bios to rid of the your reboot headache.

You know, I get a slightly different problem with my USB 2.0 devices. On my NForce motherboards, they will give me a delayed write error using one of my external 2.5" hard drives. But when using a different 2.5", it works fine.

My theory is that there might be certain compatibility issues w/ the nForce chipset.

I tried the 7/18 bios, a month after it was released, still no luck. Its no biggie though, I'll donate the board to my sis, which she is in dire need of one.

All the settings in the bios is set to default, no overclocking for me. I've also read alot of the usb issues on nForce HQ and Newegg.

Thanks for the suggestion.
