The local Fry's is advertising the Antec NSK2480 case. This is a 'multimedia' case which looks like AV equipment. It is a really nice case, and comes with a 380w 80+ power supply. It only takes micro atx or smaller motherboards. It includes two 120mm fans. It is $49.99 with a $20 mail in rebate.

#Also available at frys.com with free shipping.
Correction - Looks like it is local pickup only.

I have never seen it cheaper, and it is a great case.

I personally hate this case, much prefering the silverstone grandia gd04 or gd05. Yet...

But you can't beat the price of this case. Quality PSU and able to fit micro atx boards with full height video cards means this is not just a htpc case but can also be a case for a normal desktop.

Holy crap. That's a great price and this is a good case.

The dual 120mm fans sit right next to the CPU so fanless CPU coolers are very possible. I've got a fanless mini ninja cooler on an E8400 that works great in this case.

It's a good case but a little deep. I swapped it for the GD05 for that reason. Still for the price if you have the depth for it.

Not in this sale, shipping unavailable. Store pickup only.

actually online order was available this morning--I scored one at 7:30 CT. This case/series dates back to 2006--sturdy built, but obviously no longer at the forefront, without having USB3. SPCR has a thorough review here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/Antec_NSK2400_Fusion -- overall positive, except for the absence of CD-ROM cover and the noise level of the TriCool fans and included PSU.

BTW, you can snatch an Antec HCG-400 400W PSU for <$20 AR AC at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...16817371046--a good basic PSU like Corsair's builder series, cooled by a 13cm fan.

I also swapped it for the GD05. Like I said I hated this case, and when I rebuilt my htpc I gladly got rid of this case. That said my friend loves the computer I built for him that uses this case (I reused it), he has no complaints but it is a pita to work in.

The TriCool fans work well with undervolting. I run mine at 5V and it's near-silent (of course with minimal airflow). If you go 7V, it should strike a good balance between noise and airflow (using the 3-way switch).

Do the front USB ports of a case actually have to support USB3?

no, USB is not mandatory, esp for a HTPC (that's why I jumped on the deal this a.m.)--I was merely mentioning that this case has been around since 2006 (originally selling for ~$90; so $30 is a great deal). As far as the TriCool fans go, they do generate more noise than fans with similar air flow (I have 6 or 7 Antec cases with TriCool fans)--low setting is quiet but minimal flow; the mid- and hi- settings are simply too loud (perhaps it's my Antec Solo's restrictive front bezel that limits the flow).

Oh I meant whether there's a difference in design of case USB ports to accomodate USB3 or not? I hadn't thought about that previously, but I believe USB3 does have much higher power output capability than USB2.

I have an Antec Solo too...only use the rear TriCool fan though. Low setting was still too loud for me, so I undervolted. But you can imagine what the airflow is like then. lol. Enough for my purposes.

yes, usb 3 connector is physically different from usb 2. You can connect usb 3 devices to usb connector, but it will only run at usb 2 speed. For an HTPC, that's probably not too big a handicap.
TriCool at low setting already is at 5 or 6 volt; I can't imagine what kind of air flow you'd get by cutting another 60%.

Just enough to move some air (i.e. better than nothing). Undervolting to 5v made a definite difference in noise compared to the low setting at 12v, so the low setting must be higher than 5v. Perhaps the rest of the fans would have to be quiet enough to notice the difference though. I went for a near-silent system.

The PSU is an antec EA380 (or newer variant). No matter which version, it should be quite good in quality, and is very quiet for a PSU using an 80mm fan. Heck, the MSRP of the PSU is more than the before rebate price of this case with the PSU.

While this case does fit a full height graphics card, please note that there is insufficient room above the card for a PCIe power plug, for cards that have the plugs on top.

Yup, depth is the reason I swapped mine out with a Lian Li PC-C50B which is similar to the GD05 except with a different drive layout.

The HCG 400W is a Seasonic built 80Plus Bronze unit. Very nice for $20.
