Fry's has this combo tomorrow. pricewatch.com lowest OEM version Athlon XP 1700 is $137.
Fry's has a retail version, which usually cost at least $20 more expensive.
Where'd you see the ad? Is there a certain time you have to get to the store by (ie from 7am-12noon?). This is pretty good for both the board and the chip. Thanks!
Keep in mind that the OEM version likely does NOT include a HS/F on the Athlon XP chip. Therefore you need to sink in anywhere from $15-$20 for a decent HSF. For the non-Overclockers, the Retail chip may be the better buy.
great board, this is definitely a HOT deal if it's available in every Fry's stores!
I got ECS board and it's very stable, with Athlon XP 1600+ (OEM) back then for $159 (substituting for sold-out Athlon 1.4Ghz)
The thing is you need to have a good power supply (don't be cheap), I have Antec 350W which have 2 fans in it, and the ECS should be running fine
The San Jose Mercury and Oakland Tribune seem to have the Fry's Electronics Advertisments.
If you do pick them up please post any other mobo/cpu deals as I did not get the chance to pick the paper up myself.
I have the board w/ a 1.4 thunderbird... Its a really nice board but i dont use the sound and the LAN option SUCKS... it was going too slow even w/ updated drivers... I had to install my old lan card...
