is worth more than an

X2 3800+ Combo ($349)



A64 3200+ S939 ($169) (could be a venice)

P4 506 ($109) (more misleading info, does 1mb cache really == performance??)

Darn - I was about to buy that X2 combo from Oupost for $379 yesterday, today it's not even listed!

Actually, the combo pricing kind of makes sense, since the P-D combo comes with a rock solid Intel-built 945 board while the X2 combo comes with an ECS NF4 board that could be sketchy. The last time I bought an ECS board as part of one of the Fry's combos I used to upgrade a family member's system, I had to replace it because the KT333-based ECS board wouldn't work right with the FX5200 AGP graphics card I had selected to go along with the system (they didn't need a great card, since it was a Sempron-based family system, but I didn't want to stick them with sucky onboard graphics). The card worked find in the old sub-1GHz Duron KT133A system, so I know it wasn't an issue with the card itself being unable to run in 4X AGP. After that little bit of errata, I just don't quite trust ECS as a board maker.

the ad shows a retail box... for the 3200+... do you think it comes in retail form with a fan.. not just oem..

ive been waiting on a cheap upgrade to a64 3200+ from xp 2400+, plus i don't overclock...

this could be the one...

I think the P4 506 is a 2.66

The X2 combo i think is a hot deal. The X2 alone is $330 at ZZF, making the ECS mobo then for only $20. That sounds pretty hot to me.
