I just saw the combo AD on today's San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area
newspaper. Definitely this is a hot deal. I have used ECS K7S5A
for while, it's quite good if you are not going to do overclock.
It's the best product in term of price/performance.

Saw this too today. The SKU is 3223041. The Duron appears to be an OEM version so you need to add the cost of a fan to the deal.

I have tried to contact outpost about thier return policy, but they just send me e-mails that ignore the issue and dodge the questions.. outpost is shady

Most likely it is a B&M deal in Bay Area Frys' only.

Probably because you're looking at Fry's Outpost.com. No, they are not the exactly same. The are regularly special that can only be found at the B&M stores. This is particularly true for the Fry's in CA (San Francisco), where they have often have specials for less than any other Fry's location. I figure that's just because that's where the imported electronics get shipped to first (Taiwan -> SF -> ?).

Frys are only 30 minutes south of San Francisco(Palo Alto) and if you take 280 and get off at Atascadero/Page Mill, there wont be any traffic.

Good deal. I payed $219 for my ECS-K7S5A board and Athlon 1700+ (retail boxed) CPU. MB has been working great for me since I upgraded.

I'm bummed every time I see these Fry's deals posted. I'm in the San Diego area, and the Fry's ad here just RAISED the price on this package from the $119 it was in December for the board and retail boxed CPU, to $129 for the same thing now.

Are you sure it's the same deal even? Someone else mentioned that it was an OEM Duron instead of a retail, like you said. The SKU number should be different if one's a retail and the other is an OEM. The SKU is 3223041 for the $89 combo.

Stay on 280, drive for about 25 miles south, Take PageMill Road/Atascadero exit, turn left at the intersection(you will drive under the freeway). Thats Page Mill Road, drive on it for about 3 miles(approx). Turn right on El Camino Real and turn left on Portage Avenue(about 2 blocks after you turned right on El Camino).

I paid $169 for ECS-K7S5A and Athlon 1700+ in San Jose Frys. I guess we do get better deals, but then we lose out on higher rent and house prices....
