Wow, that Outpost no return policy is lousy!
Because there are K7S5As with problems, I always recommend that people buy these from a dealer with a good return policy. Even better is a local dealer with a good return policy since you won't have to deal with the time and cost involved with shipping. That's why Fry's is a great place to buy from if you are lucky enough to have one nearby. In my experience they are great about returns.
rag15,
Sorry to hear about your problems. I just built my first PC using a K7S5A and, so far, it's working great.
Here are a couple of places that you may want to go looking fo help:
amdmb.com ECS Forum
and:
Mr. Athlon's K7S5A Fix Website
Be aware that the Mr. Athlon fixes are unauthorized and they will void your warranty.
Regarding your no video problem. Did you try a minimum system with just your video card plugged in?
Are you running a PCI or AGP card?
Did you try resetting the BIOS using the onboard jumper?
Do you get any diagnostic beep codes?
Finally, do you have a Fry's nearby? Perhaps they will exchange your board since they own Outpost.
Good Luck!
Bob

I jumped on the $99 outpost combo deal... guess what, what you get is what you pay.
I just tried to put together a new system with this combo... no luck! Headaches start right in the beginning... there is no video signal to the monitor at all. I tried so many combinations, like using different memory, 3 different video cards, 2 processors, 2 cd-roms and everything that I can possibly try but no signal. All the mb does is power up all the devices and that's it. This mobo is more like a mofo. I scoured the net for an answer but everyone with this problem is left hanging. I can't even send this product back because Outpost does not accept motherboards back... can't believe outpost's so shady. Anyway, I just want to warn you guys not to buy this pos mb. Go buy yourself a better mb like ASUS or something like that. >>
