The sale is on again - I edited the post.
Now, I just need to decide what to do.
I have an old 2200+/ECS K7S5A based gaming system w/1GB DDR, for which I just bought a $105 7600GS AGP card.
I also have an old Antec Sonata case, and have recently ordered parts towards a second system, a new high-end case, 2GB DDR2 800, and a 320GB SATA drive.
My current system is 'adequate' for many old games I play, and games like EQ and WoW.
If I build a new system, it'll be mainly for use with big screen gaming (42" LCD and/or front projector), and possibly some PCHT.
As many of us know, it's tempting to almost get into buying for its own sake when you see good deals. I have to catch myself from wanting both of the above deals.
Choosing between both of the above, one question is whether to get the X2 4600+ to upgrade my old 2200+ system; downside includes having to return the new AGP card.
Advantage includes using the old 1GB DDR RAM. Another question is whether to use the old Antec case I have sitting around for the new system; now it's a cheap case/PS.
And another is, in building a new system, whether to just keep my old system as it is, and buy one of the above deals for the new system.
The E6600 seems a bit more attractive if for nothing else than having more current DDR2 memory. I'm still on the fence how much I need the new system anyway.
Any tips are welcome - this part probably belongs in the general hardware forum.
