FRY's electronics is comming to Downers Grove, IL, in time for Christmas.... I have cut and pasted the article below.
Future Location:
Finley Rd between Ogden Ave and Butterfield Rd, along I-355. (Basically where I-355 and I-88 intersect)
They will be taking over the "AutoNation" Property on the west side of Finley Rd (just East of I-355, you can see it from the highway)
Article:
Come Christmas, shoppers may have some new options in Downers Grove.
Fry's Electronics continues to pursue opening its store on Finley Road at the site of the vacant AutoNation used car operation.
The store plans to demolish the current facility. Plans call for a 144,000-square-foot retail center. The company approached the village about coming last May.
``We are working with them to get permits,'' said Steven Rockwell, the village's economic development director.
Rockwell tied some of the delay to the fact the architects are in Seattle, where electrical and building codes are different. Some electrical plans allowed on the West Coast are not permitted in the Midwest, and the building design did not factor in large amounts of snow.
The store will be one of the first in the Chicago area.
Mayor Brian Krajewski said the village will see a jump in sales tax revenues once the store opens.
``It is a very, very large operation. They draw from a 25-mile radius,'' ``We are looking forward to the ground-breaking. It is a nonproductive site sitting up there now.''
Fry's Electronic stores sell, service and support computer hardware and software products, components, accessories and audio, video and telecommunication products and appliances.
