I've pretty much given up on trying to get deals at Frys. Honestly it is anoying for driving from Carrollton out there to Frys. Also if you notice SoCal Frys get deals 1-2 weeks before DFW Frys. And not always are the deals as hot in DFW, than in SoCal.

I rarely see any spectacular pc component deals when I go to fry's in Dallas, most of the stuff I can get cheaper shipped from newegg anyway, but they do have pretty good deals on gaming software pretty much all the time. And sometimes good deals on big screen tv's

Yep, agreed. Newegg/Googlegear no tax. Fry's 8.25%. Usually kills the deals right there.

I have always had good luck with their combo deals. If you call the manager for the MB/CPU section before youo go and ask if you can get a more expensive MB he has always said yes. I got one a month ago the P4 2.26 w/Soyo dragon lite combo, I called and asked if I could get the Soyo Px400(?) Ultra platinum and he said no problem. If you ask one of the sales guys they will say no. I just did another one 3 weeks ago it was the P42.26 w/Soyo board (did the same as above) butI took the MB back and traded it for the Gigabyte 667 Ultra. I did this cause I am sick of all the problems I was having with the VIA chipset and I couldn't be happier. The return person said that I could exchange for a different board since it was a combo deal but I said no, look at the reciept. When you get a better board by calling the manager, the way they have to put it into the computer is to deduct the total savings from the combo off of the cpu and the new board is at full price. I have always gotten better deals at Fry's than on newegg when it comes to CPU/MB combos. You just have to make sure you don't pick a MB with a Fry's return sticker on it. JFYI

I agree with ai42. I live in ValleyRanch/Irving area and driving there kills the deal. Traffic is horrible around the Hiway 75 area. Waste over an hour in traffic burning gas.... uh... fuel.

I have heard they are building a new Fry's next to Home Depot close to 635 & McArthur.

That's just a few miles from my house and lots better than going to Garland or South Arlington.

Hopefully they will get it open before Christmas.

Yeah HamtonP, if you live in Valley Ranch you're going to be mere minutes away from the new Fry's when it opens. I'm sure you've seen it going up over there next to the new Home Depot, right? Can't wait...
