These might be a no-brainer for most of you, but before I head down to Fry's for ANOTHER router I thought I'd ask first.
This unit, an FR-300RTR, has been working fine for some time now, and I have DSL Internet service.
Five devices rely on this router:
1. One PC (via Ethernet cable - not wireless)
2. One Windows PC (wireless)
3. One Mac PowerBook with Airport (wireless)
4. One iPHone (wireless)
5. One Roku player (wireless)
The router is in the next room, less then 20' from every device. I notice that the wireless connection gets dropped more and more often, and it takes a while to get it back. I've tried restarting the devices, turning the Airport off and then on again, and restarting the router. No change in performance.
Strange: the two Mac devices seem to lose the wireless connection most often. The one Windows device loses the connection, but not as often and it seems to come back sooner.
(The Roku player is hardly ever used.)
The router never used to do this, as I recall. The wireless connection was flawless, always working. And nothing has changed in the configuration of the router, either.
This is a cheap device, but is it flaking out? Time for a new one?
Thank you.
