Just got back from the Manhattan Beach Fry's. Its a madhouse! Parking was VERY troublesome. This Fry's has the smallest parking lot in the world to begin with and when you throw in tons of people looking for deals you've got trouble.

And don't mention the checkout line. I was in line for 30 minutes waiting to check out. It snaked all the way past the magazines (for those of you who know the Manhattan Beach store), curved past the video game aisle, and again down the middle aisle almost back to the hard drive section.

I bought the Seagate drive. Its model number ST380021A

It comes in a clear plastic package, that's it. That's why its called a bare drive Still, I didn't get a rebate form. Can someone send it to: jmier@develop.com? Thanks.

I wanted to look around for more deals but I had to get back to work :-(

Man those are some pretty good deals. Fry's has some of the best prices around, I just wish there was one a little closer to where I live.

The closest one around here is about a 1 hr drive, if you get lucky and don't get in any traffic....

Rally1: The form I have says "Exclusively for Fry's." You may want to check Seagate's site as there may very welll be a more generic rebate form available there.

Just got back from Manhattan Beach store.

The Good: Got the Samsung printer. It is definitely a bargain.

The Bad: The lines really did suck - but moved amazingly quickly. There were no less than 150 people ahead of us in line, and I estimate we were out of there in 15 mins.

The Ugly: There were actually lines of people waiting to get the little form you have to take to the front of the store to buy certain items (like CF and SmartMedia, for example). I would rather wait for a deal from somewhere online

Good Trick to Know: The parking lot is truly awful, and probably dangerous. I recommend parking at the north end of the Manhattan Village Mall lot (near the movie theatre) and walk over. The only downside is that, if you get anything heavy, you will have to go up and down some stairs.

I, too, just got back from that store. Since I've been there before (as recently as yesterday, in fact!) we parked in the mall parking lot and walked over. That saved some hassle. I agree that the line was crazy long, but it went surprisingly fast. They didn't have any more of the Samsung laser printers on display, but a (again surprisingly) helpful salesperson in the computers dept. got two out of the back for us. Hey xing, maybe we saw you there?

I just got back from the Industry store. Here's what I got.

White Box:
MSI Nvidia GeForce3 64mb DDR 4X AGP w/TV-Out
looks something like this

$129.99
Rebate -$30.00
-------------------------------
Total $99.99

On the inside I was dissappointed to find a large black passive heatsink. No DVI in this verision. Just the TV-Out. No cables included. The plain 4 page installation guide says nothing about this being an MSI card. And there's a driver disk with "GeForce3 Titanium Windows Drivers" Printed on it.

Printed On the Board:
MS-8851 VER130

Memory:
Elite Mt 0315s -5r
M13L64164A 07E54QD

On my Display Properties it says:
Plug and Play Monitor on NVIDA GeForce3 Ti200 (Compaq Consumer)

They still have plenty in stock in the Industry store. Looks like I gotta by a new Chipset Color for this guy

Yes, it's a beautiful day in Southern California. And an excellent day to avoid Fry's, especially the new one in City of Industry!!! What a F*cking MADHOUSE. I knew I was in trouble the moment I saw the orange cones and the guy directing traffic. The unemployment rate in Southern California must be absolutely horrendous!

At any rate, I took one look at the disaster and got right back on the freeway. Maybe I'll try to go again sometime.

If someone tells me that the employees at the City of Industry store are predominantly asian, I'll definately go back. *Many* times. Eye Candy while waiting in a long line can make the entire experience worthwhile (which is why I always hated standing in line at the Burbank store).

Incidentally, did the City of Industry recently broaden it's boarders? I had no idea that its city limits streched almost all the way out to the 605?

OK just got back from Fry's

I bought the mouse, a set of logitech speakers, a computer toolkit, and a hard drive.

The hard drive is labeled as a 120gxp on the shelf tag. When I got home, I got a link from my friend reviewing the 120gxp series. The review stated that the series uses 40gig platters. I bought the "60gig 120gxp" hard drive. THERE IS NO 60GIG 120GXP! They only make 40, 80 and 120! Im going back to return it. It even shows this hard drive at outpost.com. B0000000. I then checked my hard drive and receipt, and sure enough: 60gxp right on the front. Mislabeled shelf tag. BASTARDS!
