I have heard they were coming for months. They have tried recuiting folks from CompUSA near GPM.

There was an incredible Universe just past Costco and Sam's. Dave & Buster's moved into it. I was wondering if there was enough extra space in the building for Fry's? There are a few large empty spaces in that area since Mall of GA opened up. Looking forward to the Grand Opening! Just hope I am in town.

Still... nobody that has an idea when they open? People that are close... can you look in a window or something?!

I am still unclear where it is supposed to be, anyone got confirmation on the location?

I was there in front of the store about 10 days ago, during the weekend. There were some management ppl there stocking ang hiring new ppl. There were no signs as to when the store will open. Looks like the building is finished. Its located right outside the road that circles Gwinnett Mall. Its behind the Ryans and that Put Put lot, or across the street from Sears.

Once it opens, it will be an all-out electronics war. There will be CompUSA, Circuit City, Fry's, Best Buy, HH Greg and MicroCenter all pretty close to each other. Sweet!

Puhleeease, dont compare CompUSSR/Cir$hit city with Fry's. I used to live in the Bay Area and one of the things I miss the most is a Fry's store within 2miles of home.
Fry's is the Vatican. It's the Mecca. It's the Kashi. Comparison to anything else is an insult.
I will have to drive a 150 miles to get weekend deals but I just can't wait to get inside a Fry's store again. Yohoooooo!

On another note, there is a BrandSmart store (Florida Chain) opening off 285 near the GM Plant.

I must disagree. Fry's has delivered to me some of the crappest service of all the electronics stores i've ever used.

Half...I kid you not, HALF of the things i've bought there i've had to return due to missing parts, wrong merchandise in the box and just plain broken (One video card was missing it's heatsink and fan....) It's like people return items and Fry's doesn't even check to see if everything is in order, but instead just puts it back on the shelf.

Perhaps the Fry's in my area (There are two here in SoCal) have become complacent after all these years. But I urge you to double check your purchases before you leave if you MUST shop there.

What I meant was price/competitive wars. As others have mentioned, Fry's is considered to have bad customer service, but good prices. In my opinion, I like the service I have received from Circuit City, and if they PM Fry's, then I will get it from CC just because of the better customer service.

I'm surprised, because whenever I've had to return something at Frys (Sunnyvale store) the clerk would take a sweet ten minutes examining the contents and making notes before accepting my return.
I agree customer service is not a forte of Frys but for a family owned business that doesn't operate on a scale that Circuit City does, they do wonders.

My awe of Fry's store is for their amazing inventory and range of products you can NEVER see in Circuit City or CompUSA, the sheer football field size store and the ambience, nothing more. But then if you look at deals and prices, Fry's still comes out winner.
I had just checked online price for an AMD 64 bit 3200 processor/NF7 mobo and then went to CompUSA and Circuit City for comparison. They had marked up a good 40% of the online price, I mean, they are rip off stores. I wouldn't shop for components/hard drives in these stores ever unless they have some eye-popping sale ad.

DanceMan,
Agree with you about better customer service in CC. But just try to shop for an extra drive bay or screws for your motherboard or thermal paste, CompUSA sucks, Circuit City carries none (at least not in the town I currently reside). That's what I meant in my earlier post.

I would literally baby sit my kids at Fry's, leaving the older one to play at the playstation consoles and the younger one to watch Monster Inc on a plasma screen )

What is the theme of the ATL store? The old one in Houston is oil field workers. Two new ones opening up soon - in Stafford and Clear Lake/NASA. The NASA theme is rocket ships. Can not tell what the Stafford one will be.

"Gone With The Wind" is what they were considering. Don't know if that is what they ultimately chose.

OK, I am bit confused. A friend of mine tried to find this store today with all the info that was posted here. But no such luck! Does anyone have any detailed info where that store is exactly???

Another picture or a detailed Mapquest location?

He was gona see if they have something posted when they would open (personally I think Labor day Weekend would make sense) but since He couldn't find it I honestly start to wonder if this is Urban Legend like!
