Yeah, it would be nice to have another fry's closer than DFW or Houston. I am suprised that DFW has 4 and SA has 0. BTW, I've seen a Conn's clearance center down there, I think off of 1604. Is it any good?

Dunno .... never really been to a Conn's before, I see their ad in the paper all the time though ... might have to go check out the clearance center ...

Um... yeah. You should have seen how much people protested when they began to build that Costco and Home Depot shopping center in Goleta. I heard rumors that that CompUSA was going to be a Best Buy, but the protests got them to change their mind.

My former roommate says that people are freaking out about the Taget that they want to build in the vacant buildings/lots off Hollister. It seems that people in Santa Barbara county would rather preserve abandoned structures than to live a convenient life.

Hmmm since when is there a Fry's in Westlake Village?? You probably mean Woodland Hills don't ya?

Oxnard has a lot of higher end housing now; the colonia is still there but overall I think it's a pretty nice city. Lots safer than say Long Beach.

I'll be coming all the way down from Santa Maria and that's 90 miles but it's worth it! Thanks for the news.

I think it might be the parking/noise/TRAFFIC that people are worried about. SB is getting packed up right now.

But oxnard is accomadating everything..they have wide rodes and the BB and OM etc...stores off rose ave. are right by the freeway.

btw...Target off hollister???....wow...i didnt know

wow... Oxnard is becoming so much more "crowded", which is good and bad in some respects. Pretty soon, there'll be no more strawberry fields left. But hey, with Fry's, you'll probably have most everything you need in Oxnard, storewise. Just need better places to chill like a Dave and Buster's...

I wonder what the Fry's theme will be.

Doh! You're right.

It was one of those W* Hill/Canyon/Village places that's far away and off the 101.

They suck.. people return broken stuff, they just put everything back in the box and toss it up on the shelf.. only way to avoid that is to buy stuff w/out the return label on it (and hope it really isn't a returned item). Besides the good prices every once in a while, they are really a terrible retailer.

There are a lot of open box items on the shelf because of their excellent return policy. If people would simply keep the items they buy this wouldn't be an issue. I return things myself, but I don't break it, just usually decide on something else. If they had a restocking fee, I would probably make sure what I buy is what I really want. It would also most likely take care of the open box stuff, but I'd rather have that then a more restrictive return policy. Afterall, you can always return an open box item, which is usually priced less, or simply not buy it and get one that hasnt been opened.

Hehe, i was gonna say Westlake Village has one??? Although the one in Burbank IMHO is way better then Woodland Hills.. easier parking and it has a snack bar with Classic Automobiles that you can eat inside them, like in the movie PULP FICTION when they eat at " Jack Rabbit Slim "

You're not missing too much without a Fry's near you.

^^^ All above statements sound true to me. Just have to understand and play their game. I almost ALWAYS avoid any products there that look like the boxes have been tampered with or that has their returned sticker on it. The ONE TIME I have gotten something that I knew was a return was on a DLink 624 wireless router during their Father's Day sale. The device usually sells for $99 and there were rebates (which I did get) bringing the price down to $40. The sticker netted me another $5 because at checkout I asked to speak with a manager and told him that I was more than happy to pay their asking price if they had an un-returned unit they could sell me, and I was more than happy to purchase their returned unit, but I was NOT going to purchase the returned unit at full price. Of course he couldn't just *POOF* conjure up an un-returned unit, so he gave me a $5 discount. I did have to update the firmware, but then the unit has worked great. Only one lockup that I know of, and my Netgear FVS318 (on another connection) locks up a lot more than that, plus the DLink unit had a "game mode" which properly forwarded the ports automagically.

Fry's is like crack. You know it's bad for you, but you keep going back because you can't stop when you see their ad in the paper with the loss-leader deals.

Fry's is great. You can return almost anything without a hassel or restocking fee. This will be great for all the computer geeks in Oxnard.

Not just for Oxnard computer geeks, since the closest Fry's to the whole of Ventura County is the Woodland Hills store which is quite a distance for most.
