Would this board be faster than an Abit Kr7A?
It's a KT266A vs KT333 chipset but I'm a bit hesitant to switch out the Abit mobo for an ECS board.
I'll be using an Xp1600+ AGOIA on the board BTW.
One last thing, you're basically getting this board for free so people shouldnt complain about quality, or performance.

Hey, what power supply are you using? And what kind of memory do you have? I just put in my order for a new nf7.
My rig is going to be
2500+
nf7
mushkin DDRAM 1gb PC3500 2-3-3 level 1
Dragon Orb 3 heatsink and fan- i wonder if this is going to be ok. I hope so.
HighPower 340w power supply - Does anyone know if this will be ok? It only has 15A - 12V .
Here is a good article i found... How to determine how much W you need

I am not sure if the barton 2500+ can be used on the KT266A Northbridge. I have the Soyo Dragon Plus, and it has that same chip, and i do have my 2500+ now, but i don't dare to put it on.

"Just outta curiousity, does this board that comes "free" with the 2500+ have sound and LAN capabilities built-in?"
Yes to both. The K7VTA3 also has IDE Raid. To be on the safe side I would recommend always using a PCI network card instead of the onboard LAN. The PCI cards can be had dirt cheap now, and they along with the onboard LAN are very sensitive to lightning and surges so using a PCI card keeps from possibly damaging your MB if something happens.
That's a good idea You should probably test the K7VTA3 board though, Fry's isn't the best with having cheap working mobo's in stockOriginally posted by: kenrippy
I posted this in the other fry's thread by mistake, didn't see this one yet
Just got back from the fountain valley CA fry's......picked up these combos:
ECS K7VTA3 (KT333) & OEM Barton 2500+ $74.99
Shuttle AN35N Ultra & retail boxed 2200+ $99.99
I figure to sell the ECS for about $35 shipped and the 2200+ for about $50 shipped.
That leaves me with the Shuttle & Barton 2500+ for right about $100. A sweet deal IMO!
I still don't know why they're selling the Shuttle board (400fsb) with a 2200+ (266fsb) that just don't make sense...but that's fry's for ya.
