Well Fry's was a bit late opening about 9:10 but KUDO's to the crowd control

Arrived at 8AM and was 1/2 way down the shady side of the building, and unlike a sale at Circuit City where I watched the late arrivals mass in front of the door and be let in before 1/2 the people waiting in line,an arm to arm line of employees directed people in to a line that went all the way around the building and quite a way out along the fence. When the doors opened 'it was a quickly moving line. I was able to pick up the items I was after, and then looked around because there are lots of un-advertised specials.
Check out was quick even waiting for the processor and memory from the lock up
WISH I was staying in town to see what is going on sale the rest of the weekend !

Leaving to Eastern WA for a little Sun Swimming Rockhounding and Camping
under to stars and Mars

Got there about 9:45, was in shortly after 10 but didn't make it out of there until just before 1. The deals are good, the employees seem to be in good spirits and helpful, but the lines are long! You have to wait in line to get things that are locked up (CPUs, memory, etc. including combos) and then wait in a checkout line that snakes through the entire store and takes about an hour. I'd recommend going with a friend and take turns shopping and waiting to checkout.

I work the 10pm-6am shift on my job, so I was able to get there about 6:30 am and got in the very front part of the line and waited for opening. I nabbed a 512MB Corsair Value Select PC2700 DDR module for $49.99 (no rebate required), Easy CD/DVD Creator 6 for $49.99 - $20 MIR (If you are upgrading from an old version supposedly there is another $20 op top of that to bring the final cost down to $9.99 AR), a Kenwood HTB-205 home theater system for $199.99 (no rebate required here, either) and a Cooler Master Aero 7 Lite heatsink and fan for $15 - $15 MIR = free., and The Usual Suspects and Spinal Tap on DVD for $7.99 each. There were lots of other good deals around, but $360 was my limit for the day because I want to stay married (my wife has been bugging me for a surround system for a while, so she was cool with the purchase). The big deal was a AXP 1800+/ECS MB/Case+350W PS combo for $59.99 AR, and a complete Linux-powered PC sans monitor for $99 AR. I also remember a Minolta 2300 color laser for $399 AR. The deals were too numerous to all list here (plus they are one day specials probably all gone by now anyway). Word on the street is that they are going to be doing these one day specials all through Labor Day, so more hot deals should be coming tomorrow.

All told, I was pretty impressed as they handled the chaos very well. Lots and lots of sales people, lots of customers, but everyone seemed to be in a pretty good mood. We'll see how they are a few months down the road, but I am very happy with the store, and my haul as well. Also, none of my loot showed any indications of being refurb'd. The Kenwood was pristine, much to the anguish of my downstairs neighbor.

I am so glad I work the night shift so I didn't actually have to get up early.

Boy am I glad that I didn't head over to the TV section to check on the price of the 32" wega 'cuz I would have bought one. I just went there for the athlon 1800 combo ($90 before rebate) and ended up spending $700 (before $250 in rebates). I've been scanning and stuffing rebates for the last hour...

I think the theme was "Historic Renton" or something like that. I thought the store was very nice. I'll go back in a few weeks (when things have cooled down). I'd rather not have to stand in another two hour line to get in, and a three hour line to buy stuff.

Fun time at Fry's...it was crazy! I was there EARLY (16th in line). Was kinda entertaining watching all the people try to weasel their way into the front of the line! They got turned away by the fry's "security". There were probably 200 people just hanging around the entrance waiting for a chance to cut in line, but the Fry's folks brought out about 20 guys to form a blockade.

It was strange going in, with all the employees clapping & cheering. I felt like we were in a race! Got some good deals there:

Yamaha receiver HTR-5550 $197
512 PC2700 DDR $49.95
120 GB Western Digital HD for $49 AR
DVD LOTR Two Towers $9.99
Cooler Master aero 7 CPU cooler - FAR
Round ATA / floppy cable kit (silver) - FAR
Coby wireless phone earbud / mic - $1
was somewhat disappointed by the $99 price of the CPU / Mobo combo Athlon XP2400+ / ECSK7S5A Pro (SoCal was $79) but bought it anyway.

Passed up some deals that I should have bought, but didn't. Oh well. I'm sure they'll have more sales.

I'm going to Seattle from Sweden next week to visit a friend. I read hot deals frequently and you have so nice prices over there. I'm a tech freak and a shopaholic, love shopping over there, been to silverdale and other malls, but this must be heaven to me. I'm so happy Frys open in Seattle Thanx to hot deals I ordered a rc-plane from walmart and inc from monsterink. I also bought new golfclubs from Gr golf. I'm propably have to much weight going back to Sweden. The weight fee and the swedish custom is what holding me back from wild shopping.

can someone tell me why fry's second day sale is better than the first? i mean, i bought the creative 2.1 speakers on friday for $44-$30mir, but they had the deal today with creative 6.1 speakers for $70-$30mir. i already bought the 2.1 yesterday and didn't want the hassle of switchin it. same with tvs. i bought the 27" symphonics for $130 but today, they had a sharp 25" for $100. Glad that i came today though, i picked up a refurbished hp photosmart 812 4megapixel for $200, and a couple of 80mm blue led case fans for $5-$5mir.

Does any one know if they have any of the 25'' Sharp tvs left?

I'm loving this Fry's store and I haven't even stepped a foot into the place yet. I took in their grand opening weekend flyer from Saturday into my local Circuit City and got them to price match. Walked away with The Godfather DVD Collection for $25 before tax.

Is there any particular website that keeps track of what the sales/specials are at the Renton, WA Frys? I checked the Seattle newspapers' websites, but they don't have the ads. I might have to break down and buy a Times or P-I once in a while. Which one has their ad, and on which day?

I've seen ads Wed (almost all are 1 day specials), Thursday (I think more 1 day specials), Friday (good through Tuesday) and Sunday (again good through Tues, not sure if it's a repeat of the Fri ads). No, I haven't found a place online w/ the ads yet. But there's pretty good overlap with other Fry's ads (like orange county and SJ). The grand opening specials are still going on, though nothing as outrageous as they had the first couple of days.
