Hi Peepz, exactly 16 days ago I wasted $150 on a duron 1ghz and a k7st5a, well you can understand what a stool I feel like now that I see this deal in the paper! Enjoy.
sweet deal...depending on what the back area stock was, I may have gotten one of the last un-returned boards at the Fountain Valley Fry's this afternoon at around 1:30.
Thanks for mentioning this, I would have missed it otherwise. Posting on it now, it's a great improvement.
oh i forgot to ask, KAMAZON or bhad (or anyone else that knows), where did u see this deal? I'm about an hour away from the fullerton and anaheim Fry's but i looked online at the ad for Fry's and couldnt find it. If its available near me, i'm a go drive over there in the morning and hop all over this deal.
hi all, I jumped at the 950/soyo barebone deal for $129 last week. I need to return it due to BIOS problem. Should I just return it and get this deal instead?? Which deal is better?? Thx
All I know is that k7s5a is a great value board. It has on board sound and lan. You can also use your PC133 SDRAM on it if you dont want to spend $100 on DDR. Very stable board. Much better than my previous Abit KT7A-raid. I dont overclock: with cpu prices falling every day overclocking does not make sense to me. I think for some people overclocking slower cpus is like turbocharging a civic. For the amount of time and money invested into upgrading your car/cpu you can buy a better car/cpu. But some people get some weird adrenalin rush from pushing extra 1 sec in 0-60/100 mhz from their civic/duron....
<< Any idea what heatsinks fry's has? Any recommendations? >>
Frys in the Bay Area has a bunch of coolermaster heatsinks from $9-40, they have the orbs, the volcano5 $9.99, 6cu+ $15, a bunch of generic ones, and they also have the swiftech for $50 or $60.
if i wasn't broke i'd jump on it.. but then again, if i did, it would necessitate the upgrading of my entire system! I'll wait another 9 months until I get a job... (graduating after the summer of course)
Klude dump that soyo MB I have taken back 3 of them in the last week.
takem both back and get thathat 1.2 I have not had any problems I did not create with those ECS mb's
even then I bought it at Frys sooo I took it back did an even exchage.

you mean the restarting problem? I had a restarting problem with this MOBO, had to Flash the BIOS with the new from http://www.fic.com.tw/ and it was fixed.
I picked it up today, with some Artic Silver II, a Volcano 6Cu and an unrelated fan grill for 139. Grabbed one of the last mobo's they had at the Mannhattan Beach one. Gonna put it together tonight and see how it is
