So there is no way to tell which cpu you got until you open up and run it? What heatsink is good for this ECS/2400+ combo?

No, u can right right away...the oem cpu from fry's is packaged in a clear plastic case. I was able to tell when the cashier handed the cpu to me
So.. is this motherboard any good? What about the memory?

I have the Fry's Paper ad from the San Jose Mercury News, and the 120GB, 8MB Maxtor here is cheaper. $119 - $30 Rebate = $89. I thought Fry's sales come from corporate, and are the same for all?
-edit-
I haven't looked at all of them, but the 512 MB PC3200 DDR also has a different price here, $59
