For those who missed the PNY Ti4200 at BB, Fry's has BFG Asylum ti4200 128MB for $107 after $50 Instant Gift Cert + $40 MIR.


Anyone been successfull at talking the Sales Rep at changing the included motherboard in cpu/mobo combos? The 2400+ combo deal would be sweeter if I can get a Nforce2 motherboard for the price difference between the ECS and Nforce2 mobos.

Best price I saw before was around $549.

This thing looks nice, sexy, and slim. And the picture quality is pretty good too.
But the 1280x768 is a resolution needing getting used to. Didn't get a chance
to play any videos on it.

But I was thinking of getting an HDTV card and hooking this sucker up to it,
VGA & DVI inputs.

What you can try is to purchase the combo, then return the mobo and get another one.

My understanding is that Fry's will take back part of an advertised combo (in this case, a motherboard) but charge you the price difference (if any) for the other component, e.g., the cpu. Is that in fact how it works or does Fry's handle it another way?

As noted in that Fry's MSI nForce2 combo thread, I was able to return a board, keep the CPU and have the exact same amount credited back to me that was paid the board on the receipt... but that was almost seven months ago.

Does anyone know how it is right now? But then, no matter what, worst case senario would be that you'd have to return both the CPU and mobo.

they still handled it the same last december when I got the xp2100/dragon333lite combo. bare cpu ended up at $70 after returning the mobo. wanted the black soyo 400 instead.

probably still the same now. but like the others said, worst case scenario is you end up returning both pieces of the combo. I'm tempted by this combo...

At my Fry's Combo's are exactly that. You can't break them up and you definately can't return part of it. You have to take it as printed or return the entire combo. Ya I know what you mean I was really diggin the P4 2.4 with the ECS before but, the ECS board isn't exactly what I wanted but, no dice.

I have the Fry's Paper ad from the San Jose Mercury News, and the 120GB, 8MB Maxtor here is cheaper. $119 - $30 Rebate = $89. I thought Fry's sales come from corporate, and are the same for all?

Why??

Viper is doing a good job posting the ads right now. Whoever is the first to post them should get the credit and the honor for this. I've tried it before, but its hard setting your alarm to wake up before 2:00 to beat the people to post the ad first.

I'm gonna try to do it next week.
