Hey amd4life, I thought I?d work4amd4life until I got laid-off 3 weeks ago after 8 years and made it through 2 other lay-offs. Oh well, guess it?s time to head back to school anyway. I currently have 2 AMD systems (oc?d Tb and XP) and gave a K6 system to my godson so I truly believe in AMD. I think it may be time to take another look at Intel. They finally have a decent processor at a more reasonable price now and the motherboards are almost as cheap as AMD boards, when I looked over at Fry?s anyway. Don?t know the board performance. Didn?t look them up, just AMD. I have seen the last benchmarks over at Tom?s against AMD?s oc?d chips and Intel finally looks good. I remember reading about the K7?s architecture compared to P4, and it saying P4 should perform much better when it?s made at 130nm up against K7 at 130nm. Of course that was about 2 years ago and 130nm was about 2 years away. Now, it looks like that article was correct. Intel probably has the performance advantage and has the price/performance equal to AMD up to their fastest XP. After that, they jack up the prices on their fastest P4s, which aren?t exactly plentiful anyway. Intel?s Rambus contract expired back in Nov. and now DDR seems to have helped their system prices as well, just like Intel engineers told management. Dumbass management. Now when HAMMER arrives, that will probably all change. We?ll see after the benchmarks. Anyway, let?s have the flames! I need input! Good Fry's post by the way.
