Here is what I see as some pretty good deals

Card Reader $4.99 AR
-does anyone know if this is good, I need a card reader

Age of Mythology Collectors Edition $44.99
-Looks like a killer game, and earlier in the week when I was at Fry's, they had TONS of these, but at the time it cost more, I think $70

The Shield Season 1 DVD set $44.99
-great show, but I just can't afford it right now

Pumpkin and Rush DVD's $7.99 each
-c'mon, who doesn't like Pumpkinhead and Rush was a good movie

Free surge protector AR
-everyone loves free

I'll probably pick up AOM, surge protector and the Pumpkinhead DVD during lunch.
No CDR deals, too bad. I have been using their GQ brand for a long time now and they are quality stuff.

the Soyo 6in1 reader is listed with a rebate in the LA Times but the rebate isn't listed in the OC Register ad. oh well, I'll probably pick one up at the FV store later today anyways since I need one.

could someone be kind enough to scan or photocopy their copy of the rebate form for the soyo 6in1 reader, the FV store claims they don't have it.
This was after trying to charge me $34.99, then I had to show them it was on sale, which took the supervisor about 5mins to confirm and authorize it with the OC Register ad. Then when I asked for the rebate form they claimed they didn't have it. There's still about 10-15 sitting on the shelf in aisle 13 if anyone's going to the FV store.

You can find the Orange County Fry's Ad Here. Just click on RETAIL and scroll down to the six "Fry's Electronics" links on the left hand side. Six links for the six full page ads which is 2 more then the LA ad. Prices are good at both LA and OC stores.

Ok, just got back from the City of Industry Fry's and the Soyo 6in1 card reader deal is hotter than before!
Apparently there is NO REBATE for the 6in1. It was a mistake, which could explain why it was LATimes and not OCR (sorry ek9). When I went to pay the cashier said the 6in1 was $4.99, I asked him for the rebate form and he said there is none, it was a mistake, but Fry's is going to honor the AR price! By the way, the sticker on the box is priced at $34.99.

YMMV, since I don't know if all LA area stores are honoring the price, but my guess is you OC guys are SOL.

I also bought AOM abd the surge protector. Walked out the door paying $54. AR of $5 (for surge protector) total comes to $49.

Pretty good deal in my book.

I just got back from the Sunnyvale store, and they are selling them for 4.99 but they only had returns left, and I got one of two left. So you may want to try other bay area stores.

nuts, maybe I'll try the City of Industry store later today or this weekend and see if I can score one, if not I may just return mine but then again $20 isn't too bad but $5 woulda been better.

thanks for the reply odoe

On the other hand, the Palo Alto, CA store just charged me $4.99, no rebate, no hassle. Can't be beat!

I just got back from the Burbank FRY'S for the card reader. They had plenty of new ones, $4.99 at the register and no limit on how many you can buy. It fits in either a 3.5 or 5.25 bay and has a black or white face. Two high speed USB 2.0 ports and three flash memory slots. Compatible with windows xp, 2000, me 98/98SE. Let me know if you have any questions. I have it in front of me. Easygoing

Don't know. It goes to Niagar Falls, NY. I can email the form to someone who can host it.

I just got back from the Palo Alto Fry's. The card reader rang up for me at $14.99! I had to insist on getting the rebate form, as the cashier insisted there wasn't one. (Apparently, if there's a rebate form, that fact should show up on their computer screen.)

So now it looks like the instant rebate is no more, at least at some locations.

I bought one about 3:45pm today and it rang up 14.99 but they gave me $10 rebate form, would say it's a Soyo rebate, the cashier told me that when she took a break for lunch it 's still 4.99 but I think after that Fry's just make the rebate to complicated the matter. Still a good deal, my cashier said. This is in Fountain Valley, CA

can someone with a $4.99 receipt scan it and post it? I wanna shove it in the manager's face at the FV one. I went back with a few friends at 8pm and insisted that it was 4.99 and that they made up a rebate just to screw us with us. The cashier then took us over to the "customer service" counter where Claudia somethin tried to say that its $14.99 - 10rebate "as advertised." We said no it wasn't it was $19.99 with a 15 rebate but that because Fry's screwed up, they were honoring the 4.99 price w/o a rebate. Well after about 30mins of debate with her she approved us for 4 readers and sent us over to the motherboard/cpu/hard drive department to get a printout for that price. The cashier took us there and told the guy there to print it for us because Claudia approved it. Well the prick wouldn't print it out saying its limit one. The cashier said there were enough of us for 1 each. He wouldn't print it so he calls the store manager (Maxwell Marcelli or somethin like that) over. Well that a$$ took his time and waited til after 9pm to show up and flat out said "no" to us and walked away. So after waiting for over an hour on this "deal" we were back to square one. We walked over to Claudia asked her if she approved us for that price, which she answered yes. We had her call Maxwell back over and again, he was rude and just said no and walked away. So we raised our voices and were gettin ready to cause a scene. He finally wanted to talk to us and took us over the computer upgrade counter. We argued for about another 15mins and he said that Fry's would never sell it for 4.99 and that the ad says "14.99 - 10rebate." Being the cocky person he was, he said if we can prove someone paid $4.99 at a Fry's today w/o any rebates, that he'd give it to us since he figured no one got it for that price. We left the store around 9:30pm.
