on the second to last page of the ad is 160 GB WD 8MB cache for $279.99 -$20 IR -$140 MI = $120. Plus I had a $100 Frys gift certificate so AR for me is $20.00. (not counting tax) Not a hot deal for most. I can only imagine they will get cheaper but hopefully not so cheap I feel stupid for getting one now

Apex AD-1500 has been great. It plays SVCDs I make, cheap DVDs I buy in Hong Kong, cool DVDs I buy in Japan, and so on. It plays everything (of couse, you need to hack it for that).

Fry's was selling those nextbase dvd players that plays everything for 59.99, plus it is macrovision and region free right out of the box lol. And it is better looking than the Apex.

Every friday the L.A. Slimes has a four-page ad whereas the Orange County Register has an eight-page ad--some items are duplicated throughout the ads but generally the O.C. paper has much more.

You're correct. And Lord knows, I prefer the Register to the left-wing Times. However, the Times allows you to zoom in on specific parts of the ad while the Register does not. (And I'm sure you know how important it is to read the fine print when you're dealing with Fry's. )

Actually you can download the OC Register ads as pdf files. I just download all of the pages at once and then browse through them. This is much easier for me than paging through the LA Times ads.

Your right, I too am having a hard time locating the Frys ads. I'm sure that its there, but the Times just buried them way down inside their site. Here is the OC Register Ads for those having similar trouble: LINK
