Except for the fact that half their stuff is seconds, the other half has been bought and returned a coupla times, the salesfolk wouldn't know the difference between a CPU and a CUP if their lives depended on it, the "final indignity" as you walk out the door, etc...

But the prices are sweet most of the time. So we all suffer along...

I agree, I hate Fry's, but I do admit to going for the deals. Of course I think the way they advertise for staff goes like this:

"Are you an asshole? Do you have a condescending demeanor and a permanent sneer on your face? Do you think that a CDROM Drive is an automatic cup holder? Then Fry's Electronics has career opportunities for YOU!"

What kills me is the Frys salespeople and service here in Dallas are exactly like the ones in Cali... maybe they do advertise that way nationally.

Also, pay CLOSE attention to their rebates. They are the worst I've ever seen. From the day after Christmas sale two items bought on the 26th had to be MAILED IN by the 30th and several others were the 2nd of January. Also, they had a video card which required (due the 2nd of Jan) you to register the card online, send the original UPC on both rebates (hmmm....), AND send in self addressed stamped envelopes with the rebate submission. This alone will make me shy away from dealing with them. They look at their rebates as a fine print competition. I'll only buy somthing from them that has a MANUFACTURER rebate.

yeah we would be lucky if that deal was real. They posted that deal last ad and Frys has an official disclaimer out right now saying that it's a misprint. The ad is suppose to say "Celeron 1.7 + MB combo"

I'm looking at that Sharp 5.1 Home Theater combo too. Can you PM me once you test it out? I want to know how is it. Usually I don't buy cheap stuffs when it comes to entertainment so I'm very skeptical.

About Frys, here is my encounter on one of the staff at the Manhattan Beach branch:
One guy walked in to the hard drive section carrying a dead drive on his hand and told the staff that he crashed his hard drive and he needs to retrieve the files back because it stores a buck load of music files for his studio. Then one sales rep jumped over and started to talk loudly to make sure we know what he's talking about.

"You have to use Windows NT 4.0 to retrieve the files. It's a one time thing. No you cannot use Windows XP, Windows 98 nope, not Windows 95 either. It has to be Windows NT 4.0. And once you plug the hard drive in, you have to copy the data slowly. Make sure you copy it slowly otherwise it wouldn't work. I tried it and it works for me one time."

I couldn't help but laugh and wanted to come over to give the stupid rep a piece of my mind but then again, I'm just a bystander

will do bro! i will test them out tonight...actually tomorrow night or something when i actually have a dvd to test the gamecube bundle is smoking! i thought mario sunshine with mem card for 189 was good....149.99 - 49.99 for game (if you return) = 100 gamecube + 34.99wavebird (if you return) = 65.01 for a brand new gamecube!!!!!

now that i think about it...buy the bundle, return the gamecube and you get the game and wavebird for free!!!!!!!
