FSB Probs

Ok, i have a problem. Right now i have a duron 600 @ 950 (9.5x100) and i can't get the fsb to go any higher. I have Mushkin PC133 CAS 2 ram but the thing won't go higher than the fsb100/pci33 speed. Is that actually 133? is there something i am missing? what is going on? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

see first what's the highest CPU speed (default 100x increasing progressively the multiplier), then

set the multiplier to 6x100 & check the highest bus speed that you can achieve... then

calculate CPU speed/MaxFSB & set the multiplier.

Notice that you may up the VIO voltage in BIOS to get higher FSBs.

If you have a KT133 board, then the highest people can get their FSB to go to is about 110Mhz. Remember that this chipset officially supports the 100Mhz FSB and not the 133Mhz FSB. However, if you have a KT133A chipset, then you should be able to go up to about 145Mhz. The KT133A officially supports the 133Mhz FSB. The AMD 760 and some shipset from ALi are the only other Athlon/Duron chipsets that support the 133Mhz FSB.

Since you have an Abit KT7(taken from your rig), reaching the FSB speeds above 120Mhz is very slim. However, you have an option in your BIOS of Host Clk + PCI Clock thereby allowing you to run your memory at 133Mhz and above. With your setup, I advice finding the sweet spot of CPU and FSB speed. Note that even a 105Mhz overclock would give you 210Mhz DDR overall. My point is that you'll be better off running at (8.5 x 110) rather than (9.5 x 120).
