you were speeding, do the crime, do the crime, what's so hard to understand about that? And you say you hate cops because of that? I hope you never actually *need* one since you hate them so much. And speed traps aren't always set up to generate revenue smart ass, they're used to raise awareness that the cops are watching in that area. The last time I got caught in a speed trap, I came out with a warning, they're not always money driven.

If you get caught speeding following the traffic, people will say you deserve it.

How can you win?

You can't, there's always someone somewhere that wants to disagree with you, deal with it

The only thing I can think of that totally aligns the forum is protesting anti-piracy measures

I hope that when I NEED a cop he/she is not busy writing a ticket for someone who was doing 30MPH in a 20MPH zone.

Do you know for a fact that the speed trap was set up to generate revenue? If not, shut up about it. Speed traps are usually set up in known areas people speed. They are there to attempt to reduce speeding. I would love to have a speed trap set up on my street. Yes 10 over in a residential can be the difference between life and death. In fact, I'd like the fine to be over $200 in residential/school zones.

They need something to do in between serious calls

Yeah. Cause the cop doesn't hear the call while they're writing the ticket.

If they get a serious call they're going to stop writing the ticket and answer the call.

Dumbest thing I've heard today.

So the choices are $100 fines vs the scorn of some forum posters?

Yeah - That's quite the dilemma you got there...
so basically you agree there are hypocrites here... which is all he meant to say.

Are the same people posting different views in different threads? Otherwise, could I just find someone who disagree with you and call you both hypocrits?

yes some cops are dicks.
Just this morning I got "pulled" over.
Actually not really, I was leaving my house and to the right of me a bus was loading kids. Anyways, all 2-way lanes needs to stop, but I exited and went LEFT to go to work. Same time a moto. cop was headed that direction pulling someone over already.

Anyways, I was coming and he flagged me down to pull over, (he thought I didn't stop and ignored the bus and his stop-sign)

"you didn't see the bus stop-sign"
"no officer, I came out from my house before that"
"i'll give you the benefit of the doubt"

I almost got hit by two speed traps in a span of 45 seconds. One right before the state line, but the cop was preoccupied checking out an abandoned car a few yards away from the trap that just happened to be in the middle of the line the cops use to accelerate up to speed. Mad kudos to Nissan for making a car break down THERE.

The other was just over the PA line - but the cop had just gotten out to go around to the trunk to get his gear. I decided my luck had had enough and did 10 under the rest of the way to school - and I missed english as a result. Oh well

I already have 11tylbs of gear that I carry on my person (that, and I'd do a stealth installation)

Maybe you should invest in a chair so you can sit in it while you're hiding outside with your SKS, Tony.

Did the OP ever post where he lives so people can give him actual advice?

This thread makes me think of this section of winchester pike near me. Most of this road is 50 MPH, you will pass a few houses here and there, all of which are a couple hundred feet off the road, a couple small shops, lots of fields, power lines. There is one section that is just over 1/2 a mile long (yes, i checked) where the speed limit is 35mph. During this part of the road, there is a corn field on one side, and undeveloped land on the other. Everytime I drive through here, I imagine the pissed off people who get a ticket for "speeding" by doing between 36-50mph.

If you're going to speed, be prepared to accept the consequences.

That being said, I'd consult ticketassassin.com. Also, try to get them to allow you to take a defensive driving course, which prevents the infraction from showing up on your record as long as you stay out of trouble for ~6months I believe.

thanks ill check out the website
Many coiurts will allow you to take a driving course for 1 ticket every 3+/- years.
Cost of course comes out of your pocket, however, the ticket does not show on the driving record.

If there is such an option; the court clerj will be able to tell you, take it. No need to spend $$ for some fancy lawyer to plead for you and tell you the same the the clerk can do.

When you are an habitual mis-behaiver, then those types or poeple may be useful.

In a city with a murder rate that is more than 8x the national average(my home), cops better be doing something than wasting everyone's time writing tickets for doing 10mph over in a 20mph zone.

And what exactly should they be doing instead of writing tickets?

OH BOO FSCKING HOO. I apologized and he still goes and gives me a $100 fine. 10mph is fscking barely speeding and it was so obvious it was a speed trap because about 10 feet in front of me, there is a sign that says 'Speed Limit: 30 MPH.' SO WTF? I would've argued and bitched but god knows that wouldn't have helped. omg such bs. I don't even care about paying the fine, I just don't want to see it on my insurance.

and yes a weak rant, I know.

Thanks for contributing the Christmas Party

I'll put in this way. All of the gangs and drug dealers have lookouts at every corner. When they see a cop pulling over someone, they know that that officer is occupied and that there is now one or two less sets of eyes and ears patroling the streets. If it is a frivelous offense (my opinion is that 30Mph in a 20MPh zone is frivelous), I think that everyone would be safer and better served if the cop was on the beat, making his/her presence known in the area. I think that when cops take on the roll of enforcer for little stuff like this, it makes the cops less approachable by people who are not serious offenders. This in turn, isolates the police from the community and vice versa. Please keep in mind, that I am talking about a violent, urban area.

If there is an area where speeding is a safety concern, than I am all for speed traps. The more people that get slowed down, the better.

So, what they should be doing (and they do a great job of for the most part in my town) is community policing.

Really? So as soon as an officer makes a stop they start selling drugs and killing people like hotcakes, huh? I guess what we should really do is just park in front of suspected gang members and drug dealers and stare at them our entire shift.
