Not to get into such a discussion, but no one should have any sense of duty to any country or flag, but only to the world.
All soldiers and citizens should feel a sense of duty to the world, as a citizen of the world, not a citizen of a government (which is only a temporary institution srt up to enforce laws), defending freedom around the world.
Ben Franklin said it best, "Where freedom is, there is my home."
Thomas Paine also, "The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion."
I have great respect for those who serve in the name of all the world and all mankind, not a silly flag or a bunch of crooked politicians (which is all a government is made of).
