This thread is such an enormous waste of time. As is this post, even.

No, it's important to argue passionately about both hypothetical and faked benchmarks to justify performance calculations pulled out of a hat as many have done for hundreds of posts!

And keep in mind that around here some forum participants who try to shoot down the hallucinations as baseless and misleading get warnings from mods whose handles start with a V. :whiste:

But today maybe, just maybe, we might have some news here... and it might not be the best present for AMD fans:

http://blogs.barrons.com/techtrader...is-tour-of-silicon-valley-sees-orders-steady/

"the company hopes Bulldozer can ship prior to INTC’s Romley ramp late-year"

which when combined with:

http://www.fool.com/investing/gener...emiconductor-shares-dropped-what-you-nee.aspx

"Inphi (NYSE: IPHI ) cut its outlook yesterday on concerns that Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC ) Romley chip for servers would be delayed."

equals the first inkling that maybe just maybe BD is not going to be seen in September after all. That would not be a Martha Stewart "good thing." D:

Why would a delay of Intels Romley chip be a bad thing for AMD? I would think it is a good thing. I'm not following your logic.

The wording of the quote is telling (or at least I'm reading it that way). If AMD hopes to get at least server BD out before Romley, and it's pretty well generally acknowledged that Romley may not see the light of day until late in Q4, then it seems that the (in)famous 60-90 day window expressed in June for BD launch may have slipped further. There's a lot of reading between the lines here, but given that we're hours away from September and there still is not one iota of firm, verifiable evidence showing that BD will launch within the allotted 20-odd days, we may (and I emphasize MAY) be seeing the first clues of another BD delay. Or we might just be whistlin' Dixie.

1 shot windows? is this the OEM version? can you expand on this?

i bought my copy of win7 64bit from my university's store, so it came in just single sleeve, and with a little not that said "yo dawg i herd you're a student so we gave you a single use of win7 so you can't restore". but i've used it on 2 seperate computers so far without any issues, so beats me. didn't have to use DAZ loader either, just registered by itself

If bulldozer gets delayed anymore, I think I will totally skip BD if it doesn't have a significant performance benefit.

I gave up waiting.

I was youthfully optimistic that AMD would have it out in H1, and that by them saying H1 instead of Q2 that there was a chance that it would actually come out in Q1.

My plan was to go BD provided it was anywhere near the performance of SB.

When the possibility of it coming out in Q1 then became a possibility that it won't be out until Q4 I threw in the towel.

If BD is really "the bomb" then I'll step-up to bulldozer with the Trinity refresh. Otherwise I'm rather content with my 2600K performance and power consumption.

Yikes. If Xbit and these other sources are correct and BD slips to Q1 it falls right into the maws of Ivy Bridge. IF this is the case, IMHO this is gonna be ugly. I think that Read might be wanting to run back to Lenovo. "Here, Mr. CEO, here is your new office, your new desk, and now YOU get us out of this mess..."

I wonder if Read ever went to Barcelona...

by the point derpdozer does hit shelves, ivy bridge will already be pulling ahead. shame to see the market go this way, as i'm all for competition within the CPU business

There are some people who don't care if Intel is pulling ahead with new models as amd is about to release late. On my desktop will be only AMD. I can't tell you why either it's just the way it is. So the wait is perfectly fine for me since i would wait forever anyways.

Rock on:biggrin:

I have no problem with giving AMD my money this go-round (unless I buy an i7/980x any upgrade from here means a full system makeover anyway), but I want to see some genuine data on what I would be giving them my money for. If they're legit, these delays really aren't helping my sense of reassurance in that decision...

We can only pray that IB will be around but heck, then you go and read this:

http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20110831PD217.html

Intel, facing weak PC performance, reportedly is considering to temporarily halt its plans to upgrade to a 22nm process at Fab 24.

Although it does go on to state that they're sticking to the latest leaked roadmap so who the heck knows? D:

of course Intel can push back IVB if they think BD is not a threat. keep selling those SNBs as it buys them even more time to develop their next product after IVB. (Haswell?)
