Pretty absurd to include that single returned card selling at a discount.I am thinking he is thinking of the open box offering from Newegg.
Its main competitor, the GTX 780, has an MSRP of $649, but Asus has cards listed for as little as $535.
Do we know all the details of the BF4 edition? Reason I ask is because I known Call of Duty for consoles normally put out a stupid-edition (no offense to those that buy it) that usually cost sometimes upward of $150 dollars which includes crap like CoD game, some artwork book, and something like night vision goggles.
Does the PC version include any of this stuff or is it just a flat out $730 card+game?
EDIT: Example of what I mean, $200 version of Call of Duty Ghost:

Eitherway, if $550 is true, before gouging, count me in!

Why not mention the used gtx 580's going for $99 and hd 4890's for $10. What a ridiculous statement by fudzilla, asus doesn't have squat for $535, newegg has a returned card for that price. :whiste:
499$ (290) for a card thats supposed to beat the 780.
550$ (290x) for a card that beats a GTX Titan.
Well played AMD.
You should have the confrimation or debunking tonight when the NDA is lifted...I don`t believe it until I see it.
Not sure where you are getting the idea that the 290 will be $449. I would expect $449 if we were to compare this launch with that of the 7970 and 7950...499$ (290) for a card thats supposed to beat the 780.

Of course, Nvidia could quit playing around and put the 780Ti at $599, the 780 at $499, and the 770 at $399 if they wanted to and put allot of pressure on AMD, but they won't.

I'm not an expert, heck I'm not even an experienced video card user, but I never could understand why people bash'd AMD when it was earlier rumoured that the prices of 290X will be around $650-$700.
That was before the performance was unveiled.
Now, I don`t understand why they would only charge $549 for a GPU that beats a GTX 780 that cost $649 by a big margin. The only competitor in performance is Titan but that one cost $999.
They could have easily have charged $599+ for R9 290X.
But since the source is Fudzilla, I don`t believe it until I see it.
A spanish guy already has his card:

They could have easily have charged $599+ for R9 290X. But you know, AMD fans are not the wealthiest gang of people and go by price/performance by the book, so who knows, there might be something to this low price strategy.

What the hack is that? Temp Targets?
I don`t believe it until I see it.
Pretty bad strategy since they could easily have charged $599+ for it and still sold like crazy. But keep on riding the low margin train AMD.

Is it a new era already?
(also, lulz)
Damn, right in the vanity.
Now I have to start using $1,000 GPUs to represent my wealth? Woof!
