Exynos this year has an advantage not just in CPU performance but also in GPU. Now we have to see their efficiency and perf/mm^2.

So... Snapdragon 835 ended to be disappointing?

That's because compared to the SD 821 the difference is not that big after all...

We need more data for the conclusion but it doesn't look good ( maybe bad 10nm yields ). ARM was saying that Cortex A-73 at 2'8GHz in 10nm would be consuming less power than current Cortex A72 @2'5GHz on 16nmFF+. And then you see Qualcomm clocking their cores at just 2'4GHz... there is clearly something wrong.

Agreed. Without battery/efficiency testing the performance numbers do not mean much. It is also going to be interesting how other OEMs will tune the S835 when they get them. Last year Samsung phones running S821 was slower in the benchmarks than other phones on the same SOC.

Its so sad what qualcomm have done the last years.
They have tons of cash yet they get no where.
They will hurt in the long run.
Management should be changed. Long before the numbers turn red. This is extremely bad execution considering their superior position.

If Mediatek manages to do a leapfrog this time, Qualcomm will be on serious problems since Huawei is likely to defeat them and Xiaomi Surge S2 has a lot of promise.

Ok... maybe is time to tell something:
- If Qualcomm would continued with the original Kryo by adding L3 cache, they would have better numbers than now...
- Mediatek would surprise us if their 10 nm chip ends to be better than expecting (Antutu reaching 170 K, in Geekbench defeating Kryo in ST, consuming way less battery, etc)
- This might be the worst generation of Qualcomm since the GPU is lackluster compared to Mali G71 which is supposed to be smaller and way less powerful than the previous generation...

Hoping that there are not overheating issues...

They have alredy "hurt" the mobile market with their monopolistic practices and letting OEMs no choice but to buy only their chips even when they are a total mess like the SD810.

-Huawei fucked up with the Kirin 960.

-Kryo cores are incompetent and Cortex A72/73 are miles ahead in perf/mm^2 (more cheap) and efficiency. But implementation has a big role in the final result ( like they did with the Cortex A57 in the SD810 ) and process ( not good yields doesn't help ). Going with kryo doesn't make any sense. A good Cortex A73 implementation will be much better than a good Kryo implementation in the same process node.

-Please stop using Antutu as a reliable source to compare SOCs because is not a good way to do that. And it is dependent on the memory, ram and software that the phone runs.

-Nothing has been worse than the SD810 fiasco. Qualcomm still has some lead in GPU architecture but they take advantage of it to go small and cheap.

- Actually Snapdragon 835 is on the way of Huawei and their 960....

- ARM A73 is small and is no performant wise after all. It reached already on their limits.

- Agreed, Antutu is one of the benchs, other of them are Vellamo, Geekbench and some others.

- Nearly the whole ARM A57 core was a dissaster... the only exception was the Exynos implementation.

A73 perfoms better than Kryo ,can be clocked higher, it is more cheap and is more battery friendly. Kryo was a bad architecture, not better than Cortex A57.

Bad? I can tell you that it was decent enough. But it better suited for bigger designs... Also, adding Cache L3 would help them a lot.

Where do you get this nonsense. They had an L3 in the 1.0 revision but removed it in 2.0 because it didn't help at all or was broken.
