You try to find TYs for cheaper than that. Only time I seen them cheaper is when Fry's had 50's for $8.99. 100 for $23.77 is not super hot but definately decent.

Well...i guess it's warm...but most of us have been getting them for 9.99 or less, including those at Sears a bit back. There also have been the 100 pack TDKs that some found were TYs at Costco. There was the TDKs at Staples for 4.99 after rebate for 150 cdrs..I think that is why Maleficus said, "where's the deal?"

Not all TDKs are Taiyo Yuden... I accidentally bought -2- 100packs of TDKs before realizing that the label says where they're made (Taiwan, or Japan)... this at Target, too... think this is the same deal.

This has been known for a while, except maybe for newbies... At my Target, though, I pay over $30 for a 100 pack.

Note the word some. [] My Costco has Ritek TDKs. Best bet is to look for the spinning top

Takezo, Look for "made in Japan" on the label and also for a screw-off top on the spindle, and you will have Taiyo Yuden blanks. This goes for pretty much every manufacturer's 50-pack spindles.

The price for this hot deal is really pretty average. The hottest part of this deal is that the blanks are Taiyo Yuden, and I would rather pay $14 for TY before I bought a lesser brand for the same price.

We did, 3 weeks ago. TDK Taido Yudens (store had both black screw-top and white) at Circus City, PM'ed to Staples. 50 spindle for $4.94 after $10.00 rebate. $4.94 is about 64% less than $13.77, isn't it? :Q

Decent price, considering they run 22.99 for 50 at Fry's and OM. Every Fuji I bought has been TY. I got in on that Fry's deal for 8.99 awhile back, but that's the best I've seen for Fuji's without a rebate involved. So 23.77 per 100 disks comes out to less than 12.00 per 50 so I would buy them at this price if I didn't already have 700+ disks. Fuji doesn't seem to be the best at honoring their rebates anyway. I've failed to receive one or two for 5.00 each. Wasn't worth my time for 5.00 in hassle.

The white spin off top are TY. Circuit City had TDK's for cheap a while back- they had a black spin off top and were made in Mexico...I passed on 'em.

Unless any of these other deals are still current or can point to a better deal right now (read: not "3 weeks ago" or "a bit back"), you have no beef.

i didnt mean to thread crap earlier just they are almost always 13.99 here.

I also have 5 spindles of Fuji sittin next to me and i didnt pay over 5 dollars for any of them, thats why i was kinda of questioning what the deal was.

This is not hot at all. You should wait till a real deal comes along. I got them in the CC BB PM deal and stocked up. Ended up getting paid like $2 after MIR for each spindle. On other occasions, I've gotten 50pk spindles for about $5 after MIR. I have about 10+ spindles sitting in my closet. I suggest if you guys can wait, do it. But if you really need some CDRs, these are the ones to get, although I would never pay more than $7 for a 50pk spindle.

The $10.00 rebate is going to be valid for a long time to come; these disks are still readily available cheap.

Help me understand:

Why are Taiyo Yudens considered to be so great??? Supposedly they use the Cyanine/Azo type dye. The cheaper ones supposedly use Phthalocyanine dye. I realize there are many variations on these dyes, but from a Google search I did it seems that the consensus is that the Phthalocyanine will last a lot longer than Cyanine/Azo. Though that really doesn't matter since Cyanine/Azo will last 20 years or more. So where's the advantage? Are TY's less likely to get corrupted over time? Are they more compatible with more burners?

I picked up some for about $5 per 50 AR at a local deal here:

It's probably a dead deal by now, though the $10 rebate is good through June 30.

Fuji's last a long time, they are certified and have a very low BLER(Bit length error rate). So, they read better/faster than many other cdr's with very high BLER. All burned cd's have errors, and drives have built in error correction. Despite what others may say, not all cdr's are equal. They also give less costers with crappy burners/high speeds. Usually, I would not justify buying them at normal price, but 13$ for 50 is not bad. The spindles I have here cost me 5$ ar. Cnet did a story on this a while back, they didn't test TY's though. I have seen tests of TY's but don't remember where. IMHO TY cd's are very similar in quality to Mitsubishi, which they did test (Yamaha, Imation), but they use a different dye strategy.

Well, I have been buying HiTech, Imations CDRs 100 packs free after Rebates from STAPLES 4 times, already burned about 270 of them. I really didn't feel a thing about different quality of different CDRs. Compare to my friends who bought those CompUSA, Microcenter home-made CDRs, I think as long as it is a name-brand, it should have good-enough quality.

Also, How long your CDRs last largely depend on a lot of factors, like the way you store them, weather, humidity, etc. I would rather buy a 13 dollar 100 packs not-so-top-quality CDRs, than buying 50 packs top-quality ones. Just my 2 cents.

These boys burn at 40X in my Liteon. The only thing I hate about these "colored" Fujis is that there is no good place to write anything on the disc, I liked the old design better

I got in on the deals at BB and CC. On the rebate receipt for BB, they included a URL for the rebate. In turn, that URL redirects to here. Unfortunately, the site appears to want the user to fill out how much the "reward" is. I wonder how they know what the amount is supposed to be?

They know how much the rebate is because you will still need to send the rebate form (which will state how much it is for, $5, 10$ etc.). That will be sent along with the UPC code, sales receipt and the print out of the confirmation request from Fuji. This is similar to filing your rebate with Staples. They still wait for you paperwork before payment. You are only registering your rebate request, that is all.

If you see any of the Fuji 25pk colored cdr's w/slim cases, grab them too. They went 75% off this past Monday and ring up 4.74.
