Smart-BURN will crop the Fuji's @ 40X, but I burn them @ 48X regularly with no problems. These are the finest CD-R media out there right now (IMHO ) so stock up.

These are the only discs that make my Sony PS2 and Pioneer DV-414 happy. Well, so do Mitsui Golds, but they're $1.50 a pop...

Ordered these online. Thanks!

Can someone please tell me if I use the online reciept that I print out or the reciept that comes with the actual product when I send in for the rebate?

PMs are welcome as well.

Best CD-R's ever, these always burn at 32x in my Lite-On and they are the only blanks that work right for cd audio in my car! Damn that factory Jeep headunit.

Actually, I heard that some Fuji's are now Mitsui. so with Fuji, there is both TY and Mitsui and even Ritek if it's made in Taiwan.

Good deal for Fuji cdr's.
I'd have jump on this if not for BB's rebate.
I think I have done my last rebate with BB, that is my Visiontek GF3 Ti200 $50 that took a lot of badgering ,phone call AND 6 MONTHS to arrive. If Staples is doing this this deal I'm there.
Good luck for people who get this. BTW, is the rebate processing center the one at NJ/NY ? (shudder)

Good Deal... I never met a Fuji CD-R I didn't like . Every Fuji I've ever got was a Taiyo Yuden, but I dunno if they changed recently. As much as I hate rebates, I need to stock up before I go away to college.

You have to mail everything in - the online form you print out yourself, the receipt (or copy), the UPC and the original rebate form from the store (they call that the "ebate") which you still should fill out. I've done 3 of these Fuji online rebates now and have received the $ in under 30 days each time (including USPS time). Previous ones done the old fashioned way took way longer.

hope this helps

Many people claim to be burning these faster than 24x. I've never tried it myself; nor have I seen anything faster from Fuji. Does TY make a faster CDR ?

By the way, the time differential between 24x and 40x for a full 700 Mb disk is a mere 1:20 of burn time. Unless you burn lots per day, it's not that big a deal at these speeds. Naturally, YMMV

I saw it on cd-rw.org forums where people said some new ones were Mitsui. I've never used TY discs before since the best discs I had were probably the 1997/98 TDK Japan made Certified Plus+ 74 minute CDR's. Everything else had been CompUSA Generic from Ritek/Princo and the worst are the Imation/Philips Blue made by CMC Magnetics. Those aren't very reliable after you record on them, the contents on the media will fail on it's own. I heard some of the Memorex's were TY as well.

I have picked and used some Memorex TY's from Best Buy rated at 40x. They work well in my Lite-On at 32x.

I'm not sure about that specific TDK issue, but if they were made in Japan, they probably were TY CDs after all. I know TDK has used TY in the past, but not recently.

How do you tell which Memorex's are TY's and which are not? Also, TY may not be the best media since I thought Kodak made the best media but they got out of media altogether now.

Not too sure since these were made in 1997 and were the first time TDK was making CDR's as these were the first ones sold in 2 packs of 10 packs in jeweled cases at Costco and used CertifiedPlus at 1x2x4x6x and were white color on top with the words printed and writeable surface. I remember it was $20 after MIR for each disc with jewel case. These had better quality audio as the bass sounded better and the treble sounded more detailed than any of the discs I have used which included Ritek, Ricoh 74 Min Gold/Green (the ones from 1997 as well), as well as other brands that were all made in Taiwan and sold by CompUSA in 50 pack spindles. These might be actual TDK's as this is what CDRIdentifier 1.63 says about them. I actually still have about 16 or so of these CDR's as I try to use all the cheap stuff I bought afterwards and use these only for audio.

ATIP: 97m 32s 00f
Disc Manufacturer: TDK Corp.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 652.29MB (74m 15s 00f / LBA: 333975)

Anyways, today I went to BestBuy in San Francisco and made my purchase of my 43" Plasma TV there when I saw a wrapped 100 disc pack of 2 packs of the 50 pack 80min 24x hiding behind one of the TV's so I went to the computer section and all that was there were the Verbatim SuperAzo 80min 50 packs and the Fuji 80min 24x 50 packs as well as a entire crate of the Philips 80min 40x 100 pack that someone posted about. These are CMC Magnetics Blue according to cd-rw.org but there was no 100 pack of 80 min 24x Fuji in sight so I ran back to the Video section and took the pack and took it to the cash register and got it at $27.99 + 8.25% tax.
What color is the dye actually on the Fuji/TY discs on the bottom and what color is the top surface of the CD?

memorex TY's have a spinon cap like the fujifilms.

that's one pretty sure way to know you're getting TY discs.
spinon cap = good

Look for Made in Japan to get the TY Memorex discs. The 50 pack TY discs have a spin top, and the 100 pack TY discs have a twist open, push close design.

Ah, the advantages of having a slow and out-dated CD burner Even the dirt cheap CDRs can be burnt 3x faster than my CD writer can handle, lol.

Nice deal, that's one heck of a stack of CDs.. I ordered mine. Don't know what on earth I'll burn, but I ordered them

Hmmm, is the spinon cap the white circular disc in the middle right under the cover? What I found interesting today was with the spindle on the Fuji stilled sealed, you can make all the discs spin inside but it doesn't get damaged. That's amazing...

What exactly is the twist open/push close design? Haven't seen one of those before.

Just out of curiousity, how many discs do you guys actually keep on hand? For me, I have about 18 or so 1997 TDK made by TDK in Japan 74min 6x that comes with the Jewel Case, 1 pack of 10 Dysan 74min 12x Jeweled case, 1 pack of 5 SmartBuy 12x 80min Princo in Jeweled cases, 1 Verbatim DataLifePlus made by Mitsubishi Chemicals in Taiwan,
25 Generic unlabeled Imation by CMC Blue 12x 74min on a spindle, 1 spindle of 50pack TDK 16x 80min made in Taiwan, 1 spindle of 50pack Philips (rumored to be CMC) 40x 80min made in Taiwan, 1 spindle of Generic no-name 50 pack Princo 12x 80min Green from CompUSA and the 100pack of Fuji's I got today... I just ordered the Memorex 50pack from OfficeDepot.com and trying to get them to PriceMatch with OfficeMax now.
